Games like bursting balloons do much more than entertain children they help build important developmental skills, especially for autistic children and those with other developmental needs.

When a child chases, reaches for, or bursts a balloon, they are improving their hand-eye coordination, as they learn to match what they see with how they move their hands. It also strengthens gross motor skills, helping with balance, movement, and body control.

In addition, balloon games encourage focus and attention, as children track the balloon’s movement and react quickly.

They also support motor planning the brain’s ability to plan and carry out physical movements. When played in groups, these activities promote social interaction, turn-taking, communication, and teamwork.
