The saying goes that money is the root of all evil, but that’s a lazy shortcut. Money is just paper, plastic, and digital code. It’s inert. The actual venom is the thing that corrupts friendships, tears families apart, and hollows out a person’s soul—is greed.

And greed isn't some abstract, theatrical villainy. It is incredibly quiet, deeply human, and terrifyingly realistic.

The Anatomy of "More"
Greed doesn’t usually start with a master plan to hurt people. It starts with a completely normal human desire: the wish for security, comfort, or a little bit of success. You want to make sure your bills are paid. You want to provide for your family. You want to feel like your hard work is paying off.

But greed is a glitch in the human operating system. It’s an itch that scratches back.
The moment you achieve the comfort you were aiming for, the goalposts move. Suddenly, what used to look like "enough" looks like poverty compared to what the next guy has. The focus shifts from “What do I need?” to “What am I missing?”

How the Evil Creeps In
The "evil" part doesn't happen overnight. It’s a slow, compounding series of small compromises:
It starts with justification: You rationalize a small corner cut. “Everyone does it,” you tell yourself. “It’s just business.”

Then comes the desensitization: You stop seeing people as human beings and start seeing them as obstacles, stepping stones, or dollar signs. The employee asking for a fair wage becomes an expense to be minimized. The client trusting you becomes a margin to be maximized.

Finally, the isolation: True greed makes you view the world as a zero-sum game. If someone else wins, you feel like you’ve lost. You can’t celebrate a friend's success because it highlights your own perceived lack. You become paranoid, convinced everyone is trying to take what’s yours—because, deep down, you know how ruthlessly you acquired it.

The Real Tragedy
The ultimate irony of greed is that it promises total security but deliv

Ugandan dictator Idi Amin got married to a go-go dancer called Sarah Kyolaba, aka Su***de Sarah, as his fifth wife in 1975.

Sarah was a 19 years old single mother when she got married to Idi Amin. The Ugandan leader met the then teenager the previous year while she was pregnant. When she had her child, he announced the news and adopted the child. The child's father soon vanished ( a typical Idi Amin style).

Idi Amin splurged £2 million on the wedding of him and Sarah. Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was his best man.

Idi Amin's world collapsed following his overthrow from power in 1979. He was forced to flee Uganda for Libya before they finally settled in Saudi Arabia with his family.

Sarah only managed to stay married to Idi Amin for three years in Saudi Arabia before dumping his black yansh. She moved to Germany and sought asylum there in 1982. She started working as a lingerie model before moving to the UK.

Sarah later lived and worked in the UK until her passing in 2015 after losing her battle to cancer.

The earlier men know that money can not buy the loyalty of women, the better for them. Sarah was married to Idi Amin for seven years. The first four years, things were rosy. She was enjoying money and power. The former go-go dancer only tolerated him for three years when he was in asylum.

Men should learn from this story. It is not comfort that strengthens genuine relationships. It is hard times. If stormy waters can not destroy a relationship, it is built on a solid foundation.

Learn or perish.
