Public Health Advocates
The strength to care for both your mental and physical health. Lifes journey is more often than not, down a road of cruel injustice and inequity. At RealAfrica1st our primary objective is to promote an alternative route. Accordingly we look to remove barriers to personal growth and contentment, for both ourselves and all people who wish to join us. A mental health diagnosis shouldn't be construed more negatively than any other health condition. It is not a curse and it is not deserved. There are many different mental health conditions. And two people with the same clinical diagnosis can present very differently, too. History shows us, as far back as the start of time, people encountered mental health issues along side more obvious issues such as broken bones. It was mans lack of understanding of principles of health, that resulted in "labels" and the resultant stigma attached. Some may say we haven't learned much over the journey of time. There is no question the world we live in has become more abrasive, and hostile elements are more overt. It is just as important to protect our mental health as it is our physical. We can control our weight by a diet, however it is not as simple to stop the onslaught of mind boggling pain the world inflicts. Helping each other in all walks of life is a strong and positive influence. Our focus is on providing a person centred service and where appropriate advocacy; on a life cycle basis. "Physical and mental ill-health; homelessness (is not a curse, not deserving and rarely is a personal choice), learning difficulties; long-term unemployment; lack of skills and work experience; lack of self-confidence; crime and social circumstances: these are the kinds of barriers some people have to overcome to secure work and independence". At the heart of our effectiveness is the commitment to those we help. We work one-on-one, tailoring just the right balance of practical assistance and emotional support. Time and again, our support for people on their challenging journeys to sustained good health, quality of life and employment has given us much to feel positive about. We believe people can lead more self-reliant and rewarding lives when their families, communities and businesses support them. At RealAfrica1st, we stride to offer support and encouragement so everyone benefits from a more diverse and engaged society. (2) Nutrition. Unchecked, poor nutrition has both a short and long term negative impact on a persons quality of life. Often contributing to stress, tiredness, our capacity to work, and the risk of developing a plethora of illnesses and other health problems. Good nutrition helps to fuel the body. Having good nutrition can help: reduce the risk of different diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke, various types of cancers, and osteoporosis. Good Nutrition also reduces high blood pressure and it can lower high cholesterol. The world turns, another issue arises. We can not be complacent and neglectful of ourselves, our families, nor our neighbour. At RealAfrica1st, we would like to be a window from which a person can see all the options, allowing the making of an informed choice. God bless us all.
