*Myths about Epilepsy*

• If you have a seizure, you have epilepsy.

• People with epilepsy are mentally ill or emotionally unstable.

• You should force something into the mouth of someone having a seizure.

• Epilepsy can't be controlled effectively.

• Epilepsy is contagious and if you stay near someone with it you can catch it.

*Facts*

• Epilepsy is diagnosed when there have been 2 or more unprovoked seizures.

• Epilepsy is a physical health problem not a mental health condition. Sometimes people with seizures can have mental health problems.

• Never put anything into the mouth of someone having a seizure. Roll them onto their side and keep them safe from nearby danger and let the seizure pass in a few minutes, if it doesn't then take the person to the hospital.

• There are medications to treat, minimise and control epilepsy.

• Epilepsy cannot be contracted by being close to someone who has seizures or sharing things with them.

*WAR AGAINST STIGMATIZATION*

Good morning to us all.
During this past few weeks, I've observed that psychiatric hospitals are now filled up. When you get there, they tell you "no bed space". This is Happening both in the private and public sector.

Some of this patients relatives bring them to the hospital with the aim to keep them off during this festive period. They believe that some of them may embarrass them in front of their visitors both home and abroad......

NO NO NO
THEY ALSO HAVE THE RIGHT TO ALSO CELEBRATE THIS CHRISTMAS WITH YOU WITHOUT EXPERIENCING ANY FORM OF STIGMA FROM YOU.

My heart cry to us all is to discourage this habit.
They are human like you.
They are just indisposed for sometime and they can be fine if we stop.

STIGMATIZATION IS BAD, LET'S STOP IT.

I AS AN ADVOCATE FOR PSYCHIATRIC PATIENTS CONDEMN IT. PUT A STOP TO IT.
