What do we now call this?
There's a trending news now on how a man allegedly scammed "All Saints Anglican Church, Amaenyi," leaving the building roofless.
As of the time of filing this report, the leaders, priests, and members of "All Saints Anglican Church, Amaenyi, Awka", were still left in shock after they were defrauded under the guide of sponsoring a renovation project by a man who claimed to be a member of the congregation.
The report has it that the man offered to finance the complete re-roofing of the church building all by himself.
He then instructed the church leaders to calculate the cost of the project and ask carpenters to remove the old roof in preparation for the installation of a new one which the church obeyed.
According to information, he sold the removed roofing materials—including aluminium roofing sheets and timber—to a scrap dealer for ₦67,000 and then directed the carpenter to buy new
roofing materials as to commence work immediately.
While leaving for the market, the carpenter left his mobile phone and power bank with the man.
At the market, the carpenter selected roofing materials worth ₦987,000 and attempted to contact the supposed benefactor to make payment to the suppliers. However, all attempts to reach him failed, as his phone number was no longer reachable.
The carpenter immediately informed the church leadership, only to discover that the man had disappeared and could no longer be located.
