⚠️ Keyboardists, Please Stop Charging
Phones From Your Keyboard USB Port!
Please, this USB port on your keyboard is not automatically a phone-charging port. On many keyboards, it is designed mainly for data transfer, USB storage, MIDI/audio functions, or servicing, depending on the model.

Some keyboardists plug their phones there to charge while playing, without knowing the electrical limitations of the keyboard. A faulty cable, damaged charging port, or excessive current demand can put unnecessary stress on the keyboard’s USB power circuit and, in some cases, cause serious damage to the motherboard.

I once told a young keyboardist not to charge his phone from the keyboard USB port. He told me, “The manufacturer is not a fool for putting the USB port there.” 😂
I just smiled.

Less than two months later, the keyboard developed a motherboard problem.
The painful part is that some people don't understand how expensive it can be to repair a keyboard—or even replace one. When the keyboard finally develops a fault, the cost is often pushed to the pastor, church, band owner, or whoever bought the instrument.

⚠️ One more important warning:
If you're using your keyboard's AUX input to play music from your phone, be careful about charging that phone from the same keyboard or from questionable power sources at the same time.

The safest approach is to use a power bank for the phone when necessary and follow the keyboard manufacturer's manual for what its USB port is actually designed to support.
Don't assume every USB port is meant for charging phones

Take care of the instruments you are using. They are expensive equipment, not ordinary phone chargers. 🎹⚠️
Please share this with your church, pastor, music director, band members, and fellow keyboardists. It might save someone from an expensive repair.
