IT DIDN'T HURT ANYONE. BUT IT COULD HAVE.

A tool falls from height but misses a worker.
A vehicle reverses and stops just before making contact.
A worker slips but manages to regain balance.
No injury. No damage. Everything seems fine.
But was it really fine?
A near miss is an event that could have resulted in injury, illness, damage or loss, but didn't.

It is more than a lucky escape. It is an opportunity to learn before the outcome becomes more serious.

When a near miss occurs:

🔹 Report it. Don't keep it to yourself.
🔹 Understand what happened. Look beyond the immediate action.
🔹 Identify the contributing factors. What allowed it to happen?
🔹 Take corrective action. Fix the problem, not just the symptom.
🔹 Share the lesson. Others may be exposed to the same risk.

THE QUESTION ISN'T “DID ANYONE GET HURT?”

The better question is:

YOUR HANDS ARE NOT TOOLS.!!!!!

Some workplace injuries happen in seconds.

A hand reaches into the wrong position. A load shifts. A component moves unexpectedly and suddenly, fingers or hands are trapped between two objects.
These are pinch-point hazards, and they can occur during lifting, positioning, maintenance, assembly, material handling and equipment operation.

Before placing your hands anywhere near moving or suspended objects, stop and think about what could move, shift, rotate or close.

Ask yourself:
👉 Where will my hands be if this moves?
👉 Can I use a tool instead of my hands?
👉 Is the load properly supported and controlled?
👉 Have I established a safe position before starting the task?

Remember, controlling the movement of the object is just as important as protecting your hands.
Never place your hands where you cannot see them, protect them or remove them quickly.

A few seconds of awareness can prevent a life-changing hand injury.
