Does that mean the SQUINT doesn’t matter?

Not necessarily. Here’s why 👇

A child may see well enough for everyday activities but still has an eye alignment issues.

Eye alignment problem affects how both eyes work together or causes one eye to become weaker.

Some children also learn to adapt, making the problem less noticeable to parents.

Eyes that look good don’t always mean both eyes are working well together.

If you notice an eye turning, don’t ignore it or wait for vision to deteriorate. Have your child’s eyes checked early.

The answer is C. Both.

An eye that turns inward or drifts outward can affect how both eyes work together. Sometimes, the eye may only turn occasionally, making it easy to overlook.

Not every child with misaligned eyes has the same vision problem...đź‘€

Strabismus and Amblyopia are different conditions, but both can affect how a child sees and develops.

Here’s what many parents don’t know:

Strabismus is when the eyes don’t align properly, while amblyopia is a reduced vision in one eye because the brain doesn’t use the visual information from that eye properly.

A child can even have amblyopia without obviously misaligned eyes.

Early detection can make a big difference. Don’t wait until the signs become obvious.

That's why parents shouldn't rely only on symptoms. Vision screening and comprehensive eye examinations can uncover problems that aren't obvious at home.

The name “lazy eye” can be misleading. 👀

A child with amblyopia isn’t lazy. They didn’t choose to have poor vision in one eye.

Amblyopia is a vision development problem where the brain favours one eye and suppresses the other when vision develops unequally.

The solution isn’t “try harder.” Find the cause and get appropriate eye care early.

Never shame a child for a vision problem. Treat it instead.

Lazy eye, or Amblyopia, is a condition where the vision in one eye or both, does not develop properly during childhood. The eye may look normal, but the brain starts relying more on the stronger eye.

Because there may be no pain, redness, or obvious signs, it can easily go unnoticed.

The earlier it is detected, the better the chance of improving his/her vision.

If your child has never had a proper eye examination, don’t wait for him to complain. He may not realise that the way he sees is not normal.
