Non Pharmacological vs Pharmacological Pain Relief
The Birthing Mother can do a few things during labour to keep the labour going and to alleviate pain. These are the few non-pharmacological ways to help herself - Freedom of Movement, Breathing Techniques , Eating & Drinking during labour, conserving her energy by having a shower, TENS machine, Sitting/Bouncing on a Ball, Labouring in dark quiet space, Birthing Pool with Water immersion or water birth and last but not the least, having a supportive birth team whom she trusts to help & support her on her birthing day . Her birth team can comprise of her Birth partner, Midwife, Maternity nurse and another emotional support person like a Doula, can make a big difference to how she copes in labour.
If the mother decides to take a pain medication then there are a few options available at the hospital such as Epidural, Remifentanil, Pethidine and Laughing Gas (available at the hospital/bevalcentrum). Birth Preparation is nuanced with both Physical and emotional strength. Process of labour is that in between experience for both the mother and the baby - the fulcrum which both of mother and the baby will have to navigate for the birth of the baby earthside nd for a mother to enter parenthood,
