TM practitioners will recognize these three items: fresh flowers 💐, sweet fruit 🥭 and a white handkerchief… Exactly 3 months ago, I received my instruction in Transcendental Meditation.

The ritual in which I received my mantra from my teacher was beautiful. These past weeks, entering this practice felt both new and quietly familiar.

I’ve explored different forms of meditation since my twenties when diving into Eastern yogic traditions, but over time they faded into the background…

But at the start of this year during a 5 day Plant Medicine ceremony, in a deep meditative state, I clearly felt my whole nervous system longing to return to a solid meditation practice.

Committing to sitting twice a day for 20 minutes felt just like the beginning. Some days, it can still feel new (like riding a new bike) as I’m fully integrating it into my routine. But I am clearly sensing what it brings me ✨🙏🏼.

Another key🗝️to keeping myself as healthy, happy, balanced and grounded as I can be in this crazy, beautiful world 🌍.

In my work as a somatic counsellor, I walk alongside people through some of the most intense and tender phases of their lives, in the preparation and aftercare of Plant Medicine experiences. That asks something of me too.

This work requires enough time and space to recharge and return to my own source. TM is becoming one of those anchors.

Axé!
💛

P.S. Over the years, I’ve met quite a few TM meditators with inspiring experiences and stories. If anyone feels like sharing below (or in a PM) what this practice brought you, especially spiritually: very welcome 🙏🏼

I’m a very lucky person to have this wonderful and very wise woman as my supervisor. Walking beside me, mirroring me and bringing her own humanness and a good sense of Irish humour😉. Yesterday, after the work we did for , she took me for a long walk through the green and very lush Vondelpark. This picture is a small reminder of that afternoon.

Thank you, dear Zelda Hall🙏🏼!

Practice Lazet is welcoming a beautiful new collaboration with Gekedijkstra♥️

Geke: For some time now, I have felt a growing calling to pass on the wisdom and experience I have gathered over 15 years of working in this beautiful and magical field of the plant teacher.

Over the past year, I have been mentoring Edine, a member of my team, so that she will be able to lead ceremonies within my organization.

From her very first encounter with the plant teacher, Edine felt a deep and immediate connection — both with the medicine itself and with the setting we have built together over all these years.
I have come to know her as someone truly devoted to this work — deeply sensitive, attuned, and present, yet grounded and pragmatic.
The mentorship with her is and has been an organic process of passing on not just skills, but presence. Of teaching facilitation, and the art of holding space.
Edine is walking beside me, co-guiding retreats, learning the rhythm of preparation, ceremony, and integration. And by the end of this year, she will be guiding the first retreat on her own.

I also want to introduce you to Marijntje, who is joining the team as an integration coach. I will only be available for single sessions myself, when needed.
Marijntje is an anthropologist and somatic counsellor who specializes in supporting people in the preparation and integration of plant teacher experiences. She is wise, has a deep love for the medicine and a great sense of humor ánd for human relations.

I am very happy and grateful with these developments, it gives me space to breathe, and to create new things.

I do want to emphasize that this is not in any way me stepping away from this work- far from it. I will continue to be here, fully and wholeheartedly.
I will continue to lead retreats, guide ceremonies, and show up for this work as I always have. I will be holding and protecting the vision and I will be in the background of every retreat, ensuring continuity and care.

I feel more than ever that this is my Life’s work and I want to keep doing this till I am very old, grey and wrinkly!

🌳Taking a break🌳

In a space where intensity is often celebrated, we rarely talk about the power of pausing.

In the latest Practice Lazet Journal, I reflect on how taking a break from ceremony can sometimes be the most supportive next step in your integration journey.

More is not always better.
Sometimes it is space that allows insight to mature.
Sometimes it is time that turns experience into embodied change.

Over the past weeks, several clients have chosen to pause their next ceremony. Not because something is wrong, but because something is ready to deepen.

And I recognise that path myself.

🌿Practicing over Consuming🌿

My clients fall into 3 different categories:

1)A large number of the clients who come to me for integration support take longer, indefinite breaks in between their Plant Medicine ceremonies to work on making lasting changes in their lives.

2)A smaller number don’t feel called to further commune with Plant Medicine anymore or feel that this one retreat gave enough to integrate (I have a client still working with his ceremony experiences of over 2 decades ago).

3)A growing number find themselves intuitively drawn to continue working with Plant Medicine and start developing a more frequent ceremony ‘practice’.

I started to fall into the third category myself over a decade ago…

And I can recommend ‘landing’ at the ceremony setting that you are intuitively drawn to because it ignites your (personal, spiritual) growth and development. And to stay there to study the lineage. Be humble. Open yourself up to learn. Grow ‘spiritual roots’. And contribute by supporting the people and wider community involved in this brave work.

After connecting with different indigenous Plant Medicine lineages, I found my spiritual home (and family) in the Umbanda religious tradition from Brazil🇧🇷 where I have been a student ever since.

I can honestly say that arriving there has been an enormous adventure (don’t worry I promise to write a book about it someday).

Coming back to Plant Medicine over and over again is not something you ‘plan’ and it is not for everyone (to put it mildly).

The large majority of my clients need a while before feeling ready to come back to another ceremony again. If they do at all.

Only a few find themselves intuitively coming back and developing a spiritual path in close connection with entheogenic Plant Teachers.

Looking back, my relationship with Plant Medicine has evolved to ‘practicing’ instead of mere ‘consuming’ and this is giving meaning to my life in more ways than I can express with words.

🙌🏼Ambassadors of my work🙌🏼

"Thanks to Marijntje's support, I now understand much better what those last two ceremonies were trying to show me. I feel more calm, trust, and softness around my themes".

These words come from a client who just completed the 3-month deepening path in somatic integration that I offer. After two very intense ayahuasca ceremonies, she found herself stuck in confusion and anxiety around themes that had surfaced. What followed was a process of slowing down, making sense of what had been touched, and gently bringing it back into daily life.

Sometimes the most meaningful reflections on my work don’t come from me, but from the people I’ve had the privilege to walk alongside.

What I recognise in her words is something I see often in integration work: the importance of having space where nothing needs to be forced, fixed, or directed, and where the process can unfold at its own pace.

I truly believe that my clients are the best ambassadors of what this work can bring. Her words speak more clearly than anything I could write myself.

I currently have new openings for those who feel drawn to this kind of deeper integration work.

✋🏻No full cup✋🏻

We live in interesting times, as a growing number of people are coming into contact with Plant Medicine🌿🍄🌵: powerful and sacred catalysts for growth and change.

With the heightened attention being placed on this fascinating, magical and complex field, it’s becoming even more important to keep emphasising that Plant Medicine:

– are not a “magic bullet”
– are not for everybody (to say the least)
– should be handled with great care, respect and humility

Also, when considering working with them, do your research:

– Which Plant Medicine is calling you, and why?
– What are its contra-indications?

And, just as importantly:

– Do I feel ready?
– Or do I need more time to prepare and create the right circumstances for this possibly life-altering experience?

Earlier today, during a preparation support session with a client, we touched upon another important topic:

🙅🏻‍♀️You don’t have to drink a full cup.

What I mean by this is that you can always alter the amount of Plant Medicine you ingest. You don’t have to go for a full or high dose if this doesn’t feel right for you (right now).

You are always in the driver’s seat.

Take your time to tune into your intuition and be very, very honest with what you feel is best for you in this moment, instead of what you think is “right or wrong” or what you believe others expect from you.

Earlier today, I guided my client through a somatic meditation exercise that she will bring into her upcoming ceremony weekend, to help her feel rather than think her way into this important decision-making process.

Over the years, I’ve learned (and was taught by my spiritual mentors) that more is not necessarily better.

It is very well possible to have deeply impactful ceremony experiences while working with small or smaller dosages. And if you’re mainly working with Plant Medicine for spiritual purposes (as I am), larger dosages might not even be required, or helpful, anymore.

At the end of the day, your body knows.

Sit.
Close your eyes.
Breathe.
Take your time and listen.

Am I going to say yes to a full cup, or not?

📝Yesterday’s Practice Lazet Journal grew into something more than planned📝

After the monthly Connection & Integration circle, where I was asked to speak about creating an altar as an integration practice, this theme wanted more space.

The result is an extended Journal on this integration practice, including a practical way to begin.

⭐️The new Practice Lazet Journal went out today⭐️.

In this edition, I write about integration in relationship and how being with family or loved ones, especially around the Christmas holidays, can bring up mixed feelings, old patterns or moments of friction after ceremony.

It’s a theme that often comes up in my work, particularly when inner change is still fresh and finding its way into everyday life. For many, this time can feel tender, confusing and even lonely at times.

I’m also sharing a podcast episode I took part in about Ayahuasca and Plant Medicine integration, which felt fitting to revisit at this time of year, when many of us slow down a little and have space to listen.
