5 things that have given me the biggest headaches when furnishing a home in Marrakech 🫣
Furnishing a home in Marrakech can be amazing. The materials, the craftsmanship, the colors, the possibilities… 🤍
But if you’re not familiar with how things work here, the process can sometimes be quite challenging.
1. Appointments and deadlines aren’t always kept
“Tomorrow, in shaa Allah” doesn’t always literally mean tomorrow. 😉 It means Never, maybe, later.....
2. Your request sometimes gets its own interpretation
You explain exactly what you want, show reference pictures and discuss every detail… and somehow, the final result can still turn out differently.
3. Prices can suddenly change when people realize you’re from abroad
If you don’t know the local market and prices, it can be difficult to know what something should actually cost.
4. Their personal taste sometimes finds its way into your design
Craftsmanship and advice? Absolutely. But ultimately, it needs to reflect your style, your wishes and your home.
5. Getting paid often happens faster than finishing the job 😉
Payment is usually expected quickly. Getting that final 10% of the work completed? That can sometimes be the real challenge.
Now i know how to communicate, negotiate, ask the right questions and follow up in a way that gets things done.
And today, I use that experience for my clients.
So they don’t have to go through the same headaches.
Less headache.
Less unnecessary expense.
Less wasted time.
And a result that truly reflects what we envisioned together. 🤎
