.
There are moments in life so ancient, so holy, that language struggles to hold them.
This is one of them.
A mother, still open to the universe.
A baby, fresh from the waters of another world.
A cord that has not yet finished telling its story.
A placenta, the first home, the first tree of life, still resting beside the child it nourished.
No rush.
No severing of the connection before its work is complete.
Just stillness.
Just awe.
Just the quiet understanding that birth is not a single moment, it is a gentle unfolding.
For months, this placenta breathed when lungs could not.
Filtered.
Fed.
Protected.
Loved without ever asking to be seen.
And now, even in its final act, it remains beside the baby it faithfully sustained.
There is something profoundly humbling about witnessing life before the world has had a chance to interrupt it.
No titles.
No expectations.
No politics.
Just a mother.
Just a baby.
Just the bridge that carried one soul safely into anotherโs arms.
This is what beginnings look like.
Messy.
Powerful.
Tender.
Sacred.
And breathtakingly ordinary, because for thousands upon thousands of years, this is how humanity first met the world.
-Love,
Flor Cruz
