Mindful Moment of the Week: Listen Like a Detective 🕵️
Welcome to our Mindful Moment of the Week!🍃 Each week, we share a simple practice for children and families to try together. These moments are designed to support calm, curiosity, emotional awareness, and connection - one small pause at a time💛.
This week’s practice turns “being still” into a game the whole family can play together. 🎧
Here’s how it works:
🤫 Sit comfortably and stay as quiet as you can for one minute (closing your eyes is optional!)
🔍 Your mission: notice every sound you can hear: a car outside, a bird, the hum of the fridge, even your own breathing 🗣️ When the minute is up, share your discoveries. What was the quietest sound? Did anyone hear something the others missed?
✨ Why we love it: this gentle game builds the skill of paying attention to the present moment instead of racing thoughts, and it works a different “muscle” than breathing exercises do. 🧠💛
🕐 Try it when energy is running high, before bedtime, or on a car (bike) ride when little ones need to settle.
👋 A gentle note for grown-ups: there’s no winning or losing here. Playing alongside your child shows them that slowing down and noticing is for everyone. 🌿
