The 61st Annual Scientific Meeting of the European Society for Clinical Investigation will take place in Coimbra, Portugal. 🇵🇹

With its rich academic heritage and one of Europe's oldest universities, Coimbra provides the perfect setting to continue ESCI's mission of advancing clinical investigation through scientific excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful exchange.

Under the theme "Metabolic Health in an Obesogenic World: Science, Literacy and Clinical Action," ESCI 2027 will bring together clinicians, researchers, and scientists from across Europe and beyond to address one of the most significant health challenges of our time.

The conversations started in Lisbon will continue in Coimbra - and we look forward to welcoming our community once again for another inspiring edition of the ESCI Annual Scientific Meeting. 🤝

The most valuable takeaway from ASM 2026? Progress happens when disciplines come together. 🤝

The symposium programme at ESCI 2026 showcased the diversity of today's clinical investigation while highlighting a common goal: transforming scientific discovery into better patient care. 🔬

From Mitochondria: Physiology and Pathology to Cardiovascular and Renal, Endocrinology, Metabolism & Liver, Neuroscience, Clinical and Molecular Oncology, Rheumatology, and Women's Health, each symposium explored different aspects of human disease. Yet together, they told one powerful story.

These discussions reflect the very essence of ESCI: bringing together researchers and clinicians from diverse fields to address complex health challenges through shared knowledge and interdisciplinary thinking. 🧠

What does it take to keep a scientific society moving forward?

Behind every successful scientific meeting, research initiative, and community is careful planning - including responsible financial stewardship.

In our latest interview, Dr. Marcel Twickler, Secretary Treasurer of ESCI, shares his perspective on managing the financial side of the Society and the responsibilities that come with the role. 🎥

🎬 Watch the interview and discover how strong governance helps build a stronger scientific community.

Addressing obesity requires more than treatment - it requires a lifelong perspective.

At ASM 2026, the PAS GRAS Satellite Symposium, "Weighting the Future: Obesity Across the Life Course," brought together researchers and clinicians to explore one of the most pressing health challenges of our time. 🔬

The session highlighted the importance of understanding obesity across every stage of life, with discussions centred on prevention, early intervention, and strategies to promote lifelong health. By bringing together diverse scientific perspectives, the symposium reinforced the value of multidisciplinary approaches to tackling complex health challenges.

It also showcased the strength of collaboration between European research initiatives and the clinical investigation community - a cornerstone of ESCI's mission to connect science, foster innovation, and accelerate the translation of research into better health outcomes. 🤝

Behind every great meeting is an even greater team. 💚

Behind ASM 2026 were months of planning, coordination, and teamwork - all driven by a shared commitment to advancing clinical investigation.

From the organising committee and scientific programme coordinators to our speakers, volunteers, and Central Office team, every contribution helped create an Annual Scientific Meeting that brought together researchers and clinicians from across Europe and beyond. 🌏

While the presentations and discussions may have taken centre stage, they were made possible by the dedication of people working behind the scenes to ensure every detail supported an inspiring scientific experience. 🤝

The best ideas are often shaped through conversation.

At ASM 2026, the round table discussions reminded us that scientific progress is rarely the result of one perspective alone. It happens when researchers, clinicians, and experts come together to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and explore new ways of thinking. 🧠

These sessions created space for open dialogue across disciplines, encouraging participants to share experiences, debate ideas, and learn from one another in an interactive setting.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to these engaging discussions and helped make ASM 2026 a place where ideas could truly come to life. 👏

The conversations you remember most don't always happen on stage.

At ESCI, some of the most meaningful moments take place between the scientific sessions. Over coffee. During a walk through the city. At the networking dinner. In the conversations that start with a simple introduction and grow into lasting professional relationships. 🤝

Our Annual Scientific Meeting is more than a place to present research. It's where clinicians, researchers, and early-career investigators come together to exchange ideas, find mentors, build collaborations, and become part of a community that extends far beyond the meeting itself. 🌍

Many research partnerships have started with a conversation at ESCI. Many friendships have grown into lifelong professional connections. Because while science brings us together, it's the people behind the science who make this community so special.

Thank you to everyone who continues to make ESCI a place where collaboration thrives - both inside and outside the lecture halls. 💚

Scientific progress is built through strong partnerships.

The success of the 60th ESCI Annual Scientific Meeting in Lisbon was made possible not only by the contributions of our speakers, researchers, and attendees, but also by the support of valued partners who share our commitment to advancing clinical investigation.

We would like to thank MDPI for supporting ESCI 2026 and contributing to an inspiring meeting dedicated to clinical and translational science. 🤝

Together, we continue to strengthen a research community committed to improving human health through science. Thank you, MDPI, for being part of ASM 2026! 👏

Who says scientific meetings can't be competitive? 🏆

One of the most enjoyable traditions at the ESCI Annual Scientific Meeting is the ESCI Champions League - a friendly challenge that puts participants' scientific knowledge, teamwork, and quick thinking to the test. 🧠

The quiz has become a favourite moment of the meeting, bringing together researchers and clinicians from different backgrounds in a setting that combines learning, collaboration, and a bit of healthy competition.

This year, the competition was so close that we ended up with three winning teams:
🏆 Bari
🏆 Genova
🏆 Barcelona

Congratulations to all participants for making this year's edition both engaging and memorable. 💚

Every poster represents a question explored, a challenge tackled, and a contribution to advancing clinical science.

At ASM 2026 in Lisbon, we were delighted to recognise the recipients of the Best Poster Awards - highlighting outstanding research presented by members of our scientific community. 🏆

Congratulations to this year's award winners:
▪️ Endocrinology - Gianni Pietragalla
▪️ Women's Health - Thomas Stievenard
▪️ Mitochondria - Agata Wydrich
▪️ Cardiovascular - Ye Qianling
▪️ Neuroscience - Francesco Catapano
▪️ Oncology - Sarka Dvorakova

Poster sessions are a cornerstone of the ESCI Annual Scientific Meeting. They create opportunities to share new findings, exchange ideas, receive valuable feedback, and build connections across disciplines and borders.

Congratulations to all winners, and thank you for enriching the scientific programme of ASM 2026. 👏
