In Nepal, there are many NGOs and INGOs running projects that look impressive on paper—but sometimes feel like teaching a fish how to swim. 🐟
Workshops, trainings, meetings, banners, photographs and reports can create the appearance of development. But real development is measured by what remains after the project ends.
How many lives actually changed?
How much capacity was genuinely built?
Did the community become independent?
Did the solution reach the people who needed it most?
There are certainly organizations and individuals who genuinely work at the grassroots, quietly serving communities without seeking personal fame, publicity or benefit. They may be fewer, but their impact speaks louder than their reports.
We should not judge an organization by its name, size, foreign funding or social-media presence.
Judge it by its ground-level impact, transparency, sustainability and integrity.
Because development is not about showing that we worked.
Development is about leaving something better behind. 🌱
