Obesity and High Blood Sugar: A Growing Health Concern

Recent health trends indicate that more adults are facing challenges related to excess weight and elevated blood sugar levels. Sedentary lifestyles, unhealthy eating habits, stress, and lack of regular health check-ups are contributing factors.

Why it matters:
Increased risk of diabetes
Higher chances of heart disease
Joint and mobility problems
Reduced overall quality of life

The good news is that small lifestyle changes can make a big difference:
Choose a balanced diet
Stay physically active
Stay hydrated
Get adequate sleep

Did you know that there are two entirely different types of gangrene, and one of them is an immediate medical emergency? ЁЯЪи
Gangrene occurs when tissue dies due to a lack of blood flow or a severe infection. Understanding the critical differences between Dry and Wet gangrene can quite literally save a limb or a life.
Here is a quick medical breakdown to help you spot the differences:
ЁЯЯд Dry Gangrene (Dry Tissue Death)
тАв What it means: Tissue dies slowly solely because of poor blood flow.
тАв How it looks: Dry, black or brown, shriveled tissue with a clear edge or boundary.
тАв Speed & Infection: Slower progression, usually with no infection at first.
тАв Common causes: Blocked arteries, diabetes, smoking, and poor circulation.
тАв Treatment: Vascular care, wound care, restoring blood flow, or removing dead tissue.
ЁЯФ┤ Wet Gangrene (Infected Tissue Death)
тАв What it means: Dead tissue becomes infected and can spread dangerously fast.
тАв How it looks: Swollen, wet, red, blistered, or draining fluid-filled wounds with spreading redness.
тАв Speed & Infection: Can spread quickly; infection is active, dangerous, and can lead to sepsis.
тАв Systemic symptoms: Fever, weakness, fast heartbeat, and a bad smell or discharge.
тАв Treatment: Immediate emergency care, antibiotics, surgery, and source control.
ЁЯСг Foot Care Tip: People with diabetes or poor circulation should check their feet daily for cuts, blisters, color changes, or non-healing wounds to prevent complications.

Ever notice sudden changes in your skin, puffiness, or overall facial appearance? Our hormones play a massive role in how we look and feel. As shown in image.png, different hormonal imbalances can manifest in unique ways on our faces:
High Cortisol (The Stress Hormone): Often leads to a puffy lower face, mild swelling, a tired look, and breakouts along the jawline.
Low Thyroid (Hypothyroidism): Can cause heavy or puffy eyelids, pale skin, a heavier lower face, and a chronically fatigued appearance.
High Estrogen: May present as overly full cheeks, general facial puffiness, rosy or flushed cheeks, and mild melasma (dark spots).
Low Progesterone: Frequently linked to dark under-eye circles, tired/heavy eyes, hollowed cheeks, jaw/chin acne, and a duller skin tone.
