Nowadays, many chronic diseases require lifelong medication, such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypothyroidism, skin disorders, and asthma. But in the past, there was no such concept of taking medicine forever.
The goal of treatment should be striving for a cure, not just long-term symptom control through continuous medication. That is not what medicine ought to be.
In fact, for many chronic conditions that Western medicine regards as needing lifelong medication, traditional Chinese medicine often offers the hope of a cure. Isn’t it better to have more options available?
