Those dark patches aren’t dirt. That’s sweat, made visible.

This is Minor’s starch–iodine test. Iodine is painted on and left to dry, then starch is dusted over. Wherever sweat is being produced, it turns purple‑black — a map of the active glands. What people call sweaty head syndrome is properly called craniofacial hyperhidrosis: excessive sweating of the face, forehead and scalp. In normal rooms. At normal temperatures. Often triggered by stress, food, or nothing at all.

It isn’t a hygiene problem. It’s overactive nerve signalling to normal sweat glands.

Assessment comes first. Thyroid, blood sugar, hormones, medications and nerve injury can all cause it, and need excluding.

Topical and oral options are usually tried first.

Where those don’t suit or don’t help enough, injectable neurotoxin is one option. It blocks the message between nerve and sweat gland. The gland isn’t damaged, and the effect wears off, so treatment is repeated. Technique matters here — the same nerves supply the muscles that move your brows.
