An Opportunity to Better Understand Your Heart Medications

The Doctors Fred Thomas is working with researchers from the University of Otago on an initiative to help patients better understand their heart medications.

If you’re eligible, taking part is an opportunity to learn more about your medications, including their names, doses, purpose and possible side effects. The aim is to help you feel more informed and confident when managing your medications and health.

The study involves three sessions at our clinic over 4–6 weeks. During each session, you’ll be asked questions about your medications and provided with helpful information. You’ll also receive a booklet covering heart disease, stroke and commonly prescribed medications.

Set aside 15 minutes for your breast health. If you’re due for a mammogram, book yours today. When breast cancer is detected early through mammography, women have a 95% chance of surviving for 10 years or longer.

Our HIPs, Clare and Jade, can support you with:
- Managing stress, mood and mental wellbeing
- Improving sleep and healthy habits
- Long-term health conditions and chronic pain
- Relationships, grief and loneliness
- Connecting with community support

✨ HIP appointments are FREE for enrolled patients of all ages, with no referral needed.

Winter is one of our busiest times, and we’re currently experiencing high demand. To help us care for everyone safely and efficiently, please know that:

📞 Please call us before coming in
Our nursing team may be able to provide advice, arrange a prescription, or recommend the right care.

Walk-ins are triaged
If you arrive without an appointment, a nurse will assess your needs. Please note that walk-in and nurse triage assessments incur a fee.

Alternative care may be recommended
If we’re at capacity, you may be directed to an Urgent Care/Accident & Medical clinic or ED if you need immediate attention.

Calling ahead can help avoid unnecessary waiting and fees. 💙
