There was something pretty special happening at Ormiston Hospital earlier this month 💙

As part of our second Community Surgery Day with the Southern Cross Health Trust Charitable Surgery Programme, 16 tamariki received much-needed ENT surgery across two busy theatres.

For some families, accessing timely surgical care can have its challenges. Through this programme, children are able to receive the care they need sooner, helping reduce wait times for local whānau at no cost to families.

It was an incredibly rewarding day for everyone involved, and we’re so grateful to the specialists, anaesthetists and staff who volunteered their time to help make it happen.

Wishing all of the children involved a smooth recovery and all the very best as they continue to grow, learn and thrive!

Today we’ve been celebrating International Nurses Day and taking the time to recognising the incredible difference our nurses make every single day through their skill, compassion and care.

Celebrated annually on 12th May – Florence Nightingale’s birthday – IND is a chance to acknowledge the people who are there for our patients through every step of their journey. This year’s theme “Empowered Nurses Change Lives” feels especially fitting. Thank you to our AMAZING nursing team for all that you do. 💙

Yesterday, we recognised National Supply Chain Day, and a chance to shine a light on the amazing team working behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. These smiling professionals source and manage essential supplies, coordinate deliveries and respond quickly to the unexpected to ensure our specialists have what they need, when they need it. It's a role that often goes unseen, but is critical to the operation of our hospital and makes a real difference to our team and patients every day.
