Celebrating Light, Connection, and Community ❄️🏮

Winter invites us to slow down, reflect, and appreciate the warmth that comes from being together.

At Hohepa, our annual Winter Festival is a meaningful celebration of community, connection, and belonging. It is a time to embrace the values that bring us together and to recognise the unique light that each person contributes to our community.

This year's celebration included the beautiful story The Little Spark of Light, reminding us that even the smallest acts of kindness can bring hope and warmth to those around us. As participants carried their glowing lanterns and placed them on the spiral, a simple yet powerful symbol of unity emerged—each light unique on its own, yet even more meaningful when shared as part of a whole.

Together, we continue to create a community where everyone is valued, connected, and able to shine.

✨ Because even the smallest spark can warm the whole world.

What does long‑term dedication really look like?

Since 1999, Kay’s journey has been shaped by commitment, independence, and pride in meaningful work. Her story has now been published in Fringe Magazine titled “A story of dedication and independence: Kay’s journey” -highlighting what’s possible when the right support, opportunity, and determination come together.

We’re grateful to Fringe Media for sharing Kay's meaningful stories and helping amplify voices that deserve to be seen and heard.

This is a powerful reminder that employment is more than a job — it’s about purpose, contribution, and belonging.

At Hōhepa Auckland, we believe every person has a voice, a story, and talents worth celebrating.

Our Drama Group, part of our Community Programmes creates a safe and empowering space where the people we support can build confidence, express themselves, and connect with others through creativity.

Through drama, people are supported to find their voice, develop communication skills, and step into new experiences with courage. It’s not just about performing—it’s about personal growth, self-expression, and being seen and valued.

These moments on stage reflect something much deeper: the power of inclusion, the strength of community, and the importance of creating opportunities where everyone can thrive.

We are proud to walk alongside the people we support as they share their gifts with the world. 🌱🎭

Today, we pause to honour and remember the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who have served our country. ANZAC Day is a time for reflection, gratitude, and respect—values that continue to shape our communities today.

At Hōhepa Auckland, we acknowledge the legacy of service and the importance of caring for one another, now and into the future.

🌟 What an amazing Market Day! 🌟

Today we were so happy to welcome neighbours from the Titirangi community, along with friends, family, other organisations, and many new faces who came to visit us and see what we have to offer.

It was wonderful to see all the mahi come together and turn into such a beautiful and successful day. The atmosphere, the support, and the community spirit truly made it special.

We hope you all enjoyed our Market Day as much as we did, and we’re already looking forward to welcoming you back again next time!

To make space for new landscaping, we’re offering some of these beautiful plants for sale — a great chance to take home a piece of our gardens while supporting our ongoing work.

We are excited to share a small collection of handcrafted pieces made by the people we support at Hohepa Auckland. Each item has been carefully created with creativity, care, and attention to detail.

These unique woven crafts are designed to hang in your car and gently diffuse fragrance, bringing a subtle and refreshing scent to your everyday journeys. 🚗✨

We will have a limited number available for purchase at our upcoming Market Day on April 17, so be in quick if you would like to take one home.
