Spending Sunday getting high from sh***ri during a full suspension session. The ropes hold my body tight - you could almost liken it to the feeling of a weighted blanket - the intensity keeps my focus on my body, and with my breath. It’s not long before I get floaty and deeply relaxed aka subspace. Like what I imagine meditation is ment to be about for neurotypical folks. My ADHD and my CPTSD mean that staying in my body and with my breath is not an easy task. I’m often exploring unorthodox ways to achieve feeling safe in my body. Sh***ri has been very helpful for this purpose. Easy to feel safe with a great rigger and under the extremely competent guidance of Scarlet from Auckland Rope Dojo

It’s the seemingly simple things that make the biggest differences.

To be honest a motivator for this post was reading the rhetoric from some s*x educators that this is easy stuff and that not asking for what you want is manipulation and people pleasing. As someone who lives with CPTSD and ADHD I find those approaches are not very trauma informed or neurodivergent friendly. Fawning, rejection sensitivity disorder, dissociation, sensory overwhelm, numb body, external repetitive negative input about self, perceived gender role expectations, and so much more can contribute to these two foundational s*x tips being difficult to understand and put into practice. For those of you struggling with all or any of the above I hope this post is helpful in some way.

ADHD and s*x on medication. Keen to hear about your experiences. Staying in my body with my busy mind can be very hard so I’m always curious about different methods to support myself around this issue. I have a few other options as well this is just one of them.

A connective and educational day at the Inters*x Aotearoa Social Cohesion Wānanga in today. Mind blown by the incredible speakers, new friends and colleagues, new ideas flowing. Let’s celebrate and advocate our whole community including our minority and often over looked inters*x whanau - no one left behind. Please reject and push back on the ‘definition of a man and woman’ bill. Gender is not binary and is fluid and complex in its presentations of chromosomes, genes, hormones, and anatomy. Let’s put this colonial hyper focus on genitalia to bed and embrace indigenous ways that encompasses variations in nature being something that is sacred and to be appreciated. We are nature folks.

I tipped over the 1000 hour mark recently. 1000 hours of working with so many different folks over the past 10 years since becoming an accredited therapist. 1000 hours of different stories and dreams, pain and trauma, expansion and relief, connection and healing. What an absolutely blessed profession to work in. I have so much gratitude to be walking alongside all of these incredible experiences, and in return I am continually deepening my practice so I can confidently and intuitively meet people where they need to be met. Thanks to all the people who have been part of these 1000 hours - thanks for your bravery and your vulnerability. Nga mihi nui - thank you so much.

I recently attended one of my favourite s*xology trainings to date - a 3 day Kink and B**M Mastery for Practitioners - delivered by the incredibly captivating, experienced, insightful and knowledgeable accompanied by this group of amazing Wahine. We went on a collective deep dive into the nuances of this world and learnt so much in theory and practice. A world I’ve dabbled in for many years personally and professionally but this training gave me so much more structure and depth. For my clients I have deepened my therapeutic confidence to guide you in your exploration and for myself life just keeps getting more delicious and delightful. Thank you to my fellow s*xuality practitioners in all your modalities .reedy

Mōrena my lovely followers. I have woken up on the Otiria Marae - I’m here because I’m a Māori member of the New Zealand Counselling Association and we are having our annual Māori membership gathering. I’m a Maori rep on the takatāpui/rainbow advisory group for the national executive, doing advocacy work in this important space. This moment in time is so culturally nourishing and connective and lush for me. My culture and a mix of indigenous healing modalities and practices inform so much of my work. I’ve found a quiet moment in the midst of this three day event to connect with you. Hope you are all having a beautiful day.
