Have you heard of "Di Recti"? Diastasis Re**us Abdominus (DRA) is the name given to the separation of the abdominal muscles. DRA is a common
occurrence in women during pregnancy and after childbirth.

DRA is sometimes referred to as 'the gap' felt in the centre of your tummy where your abdominal muscles meet around the belly button. This is also where it is at its widest (due to being the further point of stretch during pregnancy).

If you have DRA post childbirth, you can expect β€˜the gap’ to close naturally or reduce down to a smaller size (around 2cm) within 12 weeks post birth. This can however take some longer than others.

To better prepare the abdominal muscles for the forces that sports and exercise demand of them, exercises specific to the deep core and abdominal muscles can be performed.

Should you want further guidance on rehab for DRA, consult a Physio who can help you.
