Some myths about Tai Chi:

“Taiji is for old people”- If you are a parent you should read this !

the benefits of practicing Taiji come immediately. if you want to learn the deeper aspects of Taiji (Tai Chi), it can take many many hours of intensive training. it’s better to start when you’re young. I started when I was about 20 years old. During my youth playing in bands and enjoying those party times it helped me have some structure and general temperance also having social confidence and self respect.

“Tai Chi is slow”
Tai Chi is taught practicing slow accurate movements so you can deeply concentrate on small muscle and pressure changes as you find your balance and get accurate coordinated movements. Later you can practice very fast. In fact, amazingly fast, if you have found accuracy and have a relaxed supple body with a good structure and balance .
Tai chi is a martial art, which makes it really interesting and useful for young people. But it is better not to overly stress the Martial aspect, better to stress the internal development and modification of character, it is based on Taoist principles which are natural and timeless principles which are as relevant today as they were thousands of years ago and can incorporate into one’s lifestyle. As you develop yourself internally your interaction with your social and physical world should also develop and become easier. Many stressful and problematic situations may be handled effectively. Also, just some of the many health benefits that are outcomes of taiji practice, can lead to emotional calmness in stressful environments. Practicing Taiji slowly in the beginning, helps one find how to calm themselves down and slowing a racing mind and begins the process of finding and developing the energy or Qi of the body.

Wintertime aches and pain? If Anyone would like an acupuncture treatment give me a call.

My regular patients have been having a lot of success with twice weekly appointments but I’m aware that cost is often a prohibitive factor when considering regular treatments.
During the winter months I am offering two fifty minute appointments per week for $100.
Alternatively, if you have an ACC referral, there will be no additional charge.
Treatments can include cupping, Moxibustion and Chinese massage.
