Brisk Start for New Optometrist For Eyes Optometrists

Optometrist Sushmita joined Matthew, Molly and Anna at For Eyes in August and is already making a strong impression on patients and colleagues alike. In her first month, she identified three retinal tears, along with a case of central serous retinopathy and a corneal scratch — a reminder that a routine eye examination can uncover much more than changes in vision.

“It’s definitely keeping me on my toes!” she says. After taking a year away from optometry to welcome a new baby, she is now excited to be back doing what she loves, and is impressed that her clinical skills have already been given such a work out.

“From such a lovely, supportive team and wonderful patients to seeing an interesting variety of ocular pathology, it’s certainly been an exciting first month,” she says.

The access to fantastic clinical technology, a supportive team and a welcoming community of patients has given Sushmita a tremendous welcome back into optometry and just one month into her new role, she says she couldn’t have asked for a better start.

“I’m feeling incredibly grateful to be here and excited for what’s ahead.”

Sushmita is now welcoming both new and longstanding patients from the local community.

Spring is here and that means sunnier days are around the corner ☀️

We all know sunglasses protect our eyes from UV, but what’s the difference between polarised and non-polarised lenses?

Here is a video showing a non-polarised pair of sunglasses compared to a polarised pair.

Polarised lenses have an added filter that helps reduce harsh glare bouncing off reflective surfaces like roads, water and car windscreens. This makes a huge difference on bright, sunny days by providing more comfortable vision, less glare and improved clarity.

One month into this exciting new chapter, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better start. 🤍 From such a lovely, supportive team and wonderful patients to seeing an interesting variety of ocular pathology, it’s certainly been an exciting first month! 👁️

In my first month alone, I’ve already identified 3 retinal tears - definitely keeping me on my toes! 😄

Hi everyone! My name is Sushmita and I'm excited to introduce myself as the newest optometrist at For Eyes in Kumeū.

I have graduated from the University of Auckland as a therapeutically qualified optometrist, meaning I can prescribe a range of topical medications for certain eye conditions. I've spent the last few years working alongside ophthalmologists at the Eye Institute, gaining experience in diagnosing and managing a wide range of eye conditions. I'm now delighted to be part of the For Eyes team and look forward to becoming part of the Kumeū community.

Whether you're due for an eye examination or have concerns about your vision, I'd love to meet you and help you look after your eye health.

For Eyes take a Winter Break

Just a little update from the team at For Eyes - the practice will be closed from Wednesday 10th June until Monday 13th July while Anna travels home to Ireland for a family wedding and Molly and Matthew take a well-earned winter break.
