The very short answer is no!

In fact, responding to your baby’s cues and offering touch, rocking, feeding, or physical presence provides vital support for their developing nervous system.

What is often labeled a “bad habit” in popular culture is actually a biological need for co-regulation.

Growing a baby places extra demands on your body—and nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated.

Instead of aiming for perfection, we encourage focusing on four simple principles:

🌾 Swap white grains for wholegrain options where you can.

🍓 Reduce foods and drinks with added sugar.

💪 Prioritise iron-rich foods and include protein with your meals.

🌈 Fill your plate with colourful vegetables and fruit.

These small habits can help support your energy, your baby’s growth, and your overall wellbeing during pregnancy.

Every pregnancy is different, so it’s important to seek personalised advice from your midwife, GP or a registered dietitian if you have specific dietary needs or concerns.

What healthy swap has made the biggest difference for you during pregnancy? We’d love to hear in the comments. 💛

💧 Waters broken... now what?

If your waters break before labour starts, it can be hard to know what to do next—especially if it happens in the middle of the night.

Swipe through for a quick guide on what to do, when to contact your midwife, and what to expect next.

Every pregnancy is different, so your own midwife’s advice should always come first. 💛

Save this post so you’ve got it handy if the time comes, and share it with an expecting parent who might find it helpful.

Breastfeeding is one of the most natural things in the world. And yet for many new mothers, it is also one of the most unexpectedly challenging.

If you are finding it harder than you imagined, you are not alone, and you are not doing anything wrong. What you need most, in those early days and weeks, is time, kindness, and support from someone who truly understands both you and your baby.

Most mothers struggle with the unexpected reality of postnatal healing.

When breastfeeding challenges arise on top of that, it is easy to feel distressed and to blame yourself.

Receiving conflicting advice can make things even more stressful.

What every new mother deserves is kind, personalised guidance that acknowledges her specific situation and helps her stay connected to her own values and instincts.

Skin-to-skin time and quiet moments with your baby are often the simplest and most powerful place to begin.

“What often helps mums relax and connect with their baby is lots of skin to skin and quiet time. You have more time than you think. Hang in there.”

Worries that begin in pregnancy…

Some of the most common anxieties I hear from pregnant women are worries about breast size, inverted ni***es, pain, or whether they will produce enough milk. These are all valid concerns, and the good news is that preparing early makes a real difference.

Your midwife is a wonderful person to talk to, as they will be supporting you through the first four to six weeks after birth.

If you feel you need extra support, seeing a lactation consultant during pregnancy can be one of the best investments you make.
By the time your baby arrives, you will already have a trusted support person who knows you, helping you feel calm, confident, and ready to work toward your breastfeeding goals.
