Just keeping it real over here.

Some nights are smooth sailing, some are absolute chaos and I resort to scrambled eggs on toast.

Send this to the mum chat to remind them that it ain’t all green on the other side… I promise you 😅.

Which one is most you?
Send this to a friend who needs a reminder that yes whole foods mama, you are kinda chic.

When you’re a nutritionist and naturopath mama, and this is the first update you get (it’s the look on his face at second 9 that gets me)🤣

Does this worry me?

Not at all.

I’m actually pumped for him. The joy on his face, the total freedom, the unusual extraction of the sauce packet through the side of the bag 🧐.

It’s so important to me that I teach my kids to love real, unprocessed, whole foods. But also that they know when to pick a treat, enjoy it, and have absolutely zero regret.

Teach them balance early, so they have the enthusiasm and self desire to choose healthy food the majority of the time. But the confidence and inner-freedom to also choose the less-healthy option some of the time, and attach zero emotion to it.

What are your thoughts on food balance (vs restriction) for kids ?

Tag the Nana in your life who would totally do this too 🍔🎉😜.

If you like a natural organic whole foods approach to life, but don’t want to make it your entire personality, follow along for more .

Ps Hi 👋🏼 im Buffy, a 42 year old Nutritionist and Naturopath who loves salads, but also adores a good almond croissant. This is the corner of the internet where we get to eat healthy food, look and feel our absolute best, and still have fun in the process.

Worried about gaining weight or losing your energy, every time you travel?

It needn’t be so!

I love travelling, but also love eating really well when I do, so I can keep looking, feeling, and operating at 💯.

And you don’t need to stay at some 5 star organic whole foods retreat to eat well when you’re away. Trust me. All of these foods are simple, basic, pretty affordable, and readily available in most towns and cities.

And remember. Water water water. All day long.

You don’t need to white-knuckle your way through a trip to come home feeling good in your body, in fact better than you left. Instead of using your next trip as an excuse to fall off the wagon, what if you used it as the excuse to get back on?

Save this post for your next trip, to remind yourself of what to order. Or share it with a friend who always complains about putting on weight or losing their energy when they travel!

And if real-life nutrition for real-life women, where your food doesn’t have to always look insta-worthy is your thing, come follow along. I’m Buffy, nutritionist and naturopath who loves teaching women how to eat real whole food and feel incredible.

Winter has definitely been doing the rounds in our house this year. I’ve just been floored with the worst winter bug I’ve had in years 😷🥴🤧🤒. All 4 kids & Tony down too 💀.

When things do go pear-shaped, one of my absolute go-to ways to get better as fast as possible is to dose up on immune herbs. And as a Naturopath, Medical Herbalist, and Nutritionist, Harker Herbals ViraGuard ticks all the boxes.

✔️ Echinacea
✔️ Olive Leaf
✔️ Elderberry

Three of the most potent immune supportive herbs in Western herbal medicine. And unlike most herbal tonics, it actually tastes good too! 🍷

Take it straight off the spoon, or make a warming winter tonic with lemon, ginger, turmeric and black pepper. 🍋🫚

Comment TONIC for the full recipe, and my 20% off code for Harker’s entire range.

I might have succumbed to the nasty bugs doing the rounds, but if you’re properly prepared then hopefully you won’t have to xx

I spent years thinking I needed another degree, another course, another year of experience before I “knew enough” to actually make a difference in people’s lives.

Turns out what I actually needed was the confidence to just share my joy for natural health and what it can do for people 🫶🏼. The more I lean into that, the better practitioner I become, the better team member, the better leader, the better partner, the better mum, and actually, the better version of myself ✨

If you’ve got the passion but keep talking yourself out of it because you don’t have a degree, don’t have the money, don’t have the time, I promise that’s not what’s actually stopping you.

Pop me a message and let’s chat about what building a natural health business, with me as your mentor and guide, could look like for you. I’ve got a seat ready and I can’t wait for you to fill it x 💕

I fly quite a bit, and feel like I’ve nailed the healthy flight food quest.

For short flights (domestic or trans Tasman < 4 hrs), these are my top 3 go-to salads from Tank - there’s one at the domestic and international when you’re flying out of Auckland. If you don’t have access to a tank then just find something similar in terms of the ingredients.

🥗 Paleo Active Greens - my vego pick, egg, avocado, seeds, beet, carrot - you can add black beans, an extra egg, edamame or chicken if you want more protein
🍍 Almond Chicken Satay - higher protein, pineapple in the mix for a light carb, and healthy fats from the seeds
🍜 Vietnamese Chicken - rice noodles, herbs, vege, delicious dressing

Grab one of these plus a soy coffee, piece of fruit, and a protein bar or ball and you’re sorted. Cheaper than upgrading your seat to the full meal option, and a lot healthier (and tastier) than what’s coming down the aisle.

Try it on your next flight! ✈️

If you’re on school holidays right now, and hitting the mountain, beach, or bush each day 🏔️🏖️🌲, here are four make-ahead sweet treats that will last the distance, and not implode in your bag.

Choose one, make a batch, pop them in the fridge/freezer, and snack like a goddess for the rest of the week!

🍋 Lemon Apricot Slice - my no-bake take on the classic kiwi bakery slice, no butter or condensed milk needed

🥜 Snickers Bombs - dates stuffed with peanut butter and buckwheat that taste just like the real thing

🍫 Chocolate Lamington Bars - chewy, coconutty, 5 mins to make

🥥 Healthy Coconut Ice - my healthy version of the school-fair classic, super cheap to make

All healthy, low sugar, and packed with plants.
