North shore community πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Hi everyone, I'm Alicia, owner and operator of Senior Friends, a local aged care service supporting individuals and families living with dementia for the past six years. I have also worked in the aged care sector for coming up 10 years.

Over the years, I've seen firsthand that while so much focus is placed on the person living with dementia, there is also a real need to support the spouses, family members, and caregivers who walk this journey alongside them.

I'd love to give something back to our community, so I'm putting the feelers out to see if there would be any interest in a monthly dementia support group.

This group would be a safe, welcoming space for anyone supporting a loved one living with dementia, whether they are living at home or in a retirement village or care home. It would be an opportunity to share experiences, ask questions, learn from one another, and realise that you're not alone.

If this is something you'd be interested in, or you know someone who might benefit, please leave a comment below or send me a private message. If there's enough interest, I'd love to make it happen.
Together, we can support not only those living with dementia, but also the people who care for them.

Would a monthly support group like this be helpful for you or someone you know?

Could your loved one benefit from a little extra one-on-one support in a care home?

Even in the most caring villages and care homes, residents can sometimes feel lonely or simply miss having someone spend dedicated time with just them.

At Senior Friends, we provide personalised one-on-one visits tailored to each person's interests, abilities, and needs. Whether it's sharing a conversation over a cup of tea, reading, crafts, music, a gentle walk, reminiscing, assisted outings or simply sitting together, our visits are all about helping people feel valued, connected, and truly special.

Our small team includes an experienced diversional therapist, compassionate caregivers, retired nurses, and a dedicated male caregiver who trained as a nurse in the Philippines.

Together, our team brings exceptional knowledge and experience supporting people living with dementia, along with the patience, kindness, and understanding that help people feel safe, respected, and valued.

Every member of our team has been carefully chosen because they share the same values to make a genuine difference in the lives of older people through meaningful companionship, personalised support, and compassionate care.

We also provide reassurance and peace of mind for busy families through regular updates, knowing their loved one is receiving dedicated one-on-one time with someone who genuinely cares.

Sometimes, the greatest gift you can give someone is your time.

Good morning everyone!

For the past six years, Senior Friends has been providing private, personalised one-on-one visits to people living in care homes and retirement villages.

Care homes do an incredible job caring for their residents, but staff are often supporting many people at once and cannot always provide extended one-on-one companionship. That's where we can make a real difference.

Our experienced, police-vetted team provides meaningful companionship tailored to each person's interests, abilities, and individual needs.

Whether it's sharing a favourite hobby, enjoying a chat over a cup of tea, assisted walks, physio exercises, singing or dancing to music, taking part in sensory activities, or heading out on a special assisted outing, every visit is designed to bring joy, purpose, and connection.

Our visits don't just benefit the people we spend time with, they also provide valuable reassurance and extra support for families, knowing their loved one is receiving dedicated, meaningful time with someone who genuinely cares.

Everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, and connected.

Sometimes, the right person makes all the difference. πŸ’œ

At Senior Friends, we believe every person deserves care that is personalised to them. That's why we carefully match our clients with the caregiver who best suits their personality, interests, and needs.

We're proud to have a wonderful male caregiver who is highly skilled in supporting people living with all stages of dementia and provides companionship, meaningful activities, assisted outings, personal care, and support around the home.

A man of faith, he believes caring for older people is more than a job, it's a calling. He consistently goes above and beyond, not only for our clients but for their families as well.

We celebrated this special ladys birthday recently (She is living with advanced stages of dementia), the card and cake below reflects the genuine care and kindness he brings to every visit.

Some people simply feel more comfortable with a male companion, and we're pleased to offer that option.

He currently has limited part-time availability across the East Coast Bays, and we have exception family references available.

If you think your loved one would benefit from a compassionate male caregiver, we'd love to hear from you. πŸ’œ
