Our supermarket shelves are never empty. When fresh produce becomes scarce, it's replaced by food from other countries, products with longer shelf lives, longer ingredient lists, and fewer links to the land that feeds us.

New Zealand is one of the world's great food-producing nations. But if affordable fresh vegetables become harder for New Zealand families to access, it's worth asking what kind of food system we're building—and who is it really serving.

Healthy soils don't just grow better crops—they help build a food system that's resilient enough to nourish New Zealanders and continue to feed the world, whilst keeping our farmers profitable.

🌱 Healthy Soil. Healthy Food. A Healthier New Zealand.

🍑 Did you know?

Around 80–90% of a stonefruits' final cell number is established within the first few weeks after flowering. Once that period has passed, the fruit can only increase in size by enlarging existing cells, making early-season nutrition—including boron—critical for achieving maximum fruit size.

Don't underestimate boron!

This essential trace element helps plants move calcium where it's needed most, supporting stronger cell development, better fruit quality, and improved storage life.

🍎 BIOMIN Boron also helps boost sugar accumulation during ripening and is ideal before flowering to support healthy blooms and improved fruit set.

Small nutrient. Big impact. 💪🌿

Everything starts beneath our feet.

🌱On World Nature Conservation Day, it's worth remembering that some of nature's most important work happens where we can't see it.

🦠Billions of microbes.
🦠Networks of mycorrhizal fungi.
🦠Organic matter feeding life.
🦠Biodiversity above and below ground.

When we nurture the biology in our soils, we're not just improving crop performance—we're investing in healthier, more resilient ecosystems.

Nature has been perfecting these partnerships for millions of years.

🙌Our job is simply to support them, not destroy them.

Plants: Nature's Original Climate Technology 🌱

Every breath you take was made possible by a plant. Through photosynthesis, plants capture carbon, release oxygen, feed soil microbes, and power the natural cycles that support life on Earth.

🌿But plants don't work alone.

Below ground, roots and microbes form powerful partnerships that improve nutrient uptake, build soil health, sequester carbon and increase resilience to stress.

The stronger these biological connections, the stronger our growing systems become. That's why we're passionate about supporting the biology beneath every crop.

Healthy soils = Healthy plants = Healthy future 🌏

Grounded in biology. Built on experience.

Organics Aotearoa New Zealand have five requests for the government in its election manifesto, led by full implementation of the national organic standard, says board member Scott Lawson.

“It’s not very often you hear farmers in industry ask for regulation, but that’s something we’ve been asking for the last 20 years,” he says.

He says the remaining requests cover investment in the sector’s growth, securing global market access, protecting New Zealand’s GE-free advantage and a stronger domestic base.

“Food security doesn’t come from a supermarket; it comes from having foundations," he says.
