Dry eyes are an extremely common condition, that doesn’t mean that there’s nothing to be done about them. Our Dry Eye Clinic can help you find the right treatment for your eyes.
COMMON CAUSES OF DRY EYE
🔹Screen time🔹
When looking at screens, we tend to blink less, this causes the eyes to be drier, and feel more irritated.
🔹Environment🔹
Dry, warm air can cause tears to evaporate faster, irritating the eyes.
🔹Aging🔹
Naturally, as we age, the amount of tears produced by the lacrimal gland reduces. This causes eyes to get drier.
CAUSES OF EXCESSIVE DRY EYES
If your eyes are repeatedly and regularly dry, there may be other causes.
🔹Evaporative dry eye🔹
This common condition is the result of poor quality tear film, which evaporates faster. The most common cause of this is an issue with the meibomian glands, which produce oily secretions that prevent tears from evaporating.
🔹Aqueous deficiency dry eye🔹
This is caused by issues with the lacrimal, gland, which produce tears. Dysfunction of the lacrimal gland means less tears. Less tears mean dryer eyes.
