We're thrilled to announce our next kōrero star is journalist, musical arts laureate and absolute taonga Moana Maniapoto MNZM. She's an award-winning interviewer – but it's now her turn to be interviewee (talking with the wonderful Stacey Morrison). If you were lucky enough to see Moana interview Prof Margaret Mutu, you'll know she combines humour (and song!) with hard-hitting insight.

Her life is fascinating - plus there's no one better to guide us through the upcoming tricky, thorny and vital election season while we continue to suffer under the current deliberately racist, misogynist & environmentally destructive government.

I’m an actor, director and social media strategist. I’ve always been fascinated by the stories we tell, the ones we’re told and the ones we carry about ourselves. I think stories are one of the most powerful ways we make sense of the world and connect with each other 🌈

It is such a privilege to join Te Wahi Wahine o Tamaki Makaurau! I’m grateful to be here! Low cost counselling, advocacy, education and community- it’s such a special community to be part of and I feel lucky to help tell their stories and connect more women and non binary people with the support that’s available 🩷

PSA: Let your mates know

If someone is intruding in your life without you wanting them to, that's a major red flag for stalking.

They may have any number of excuses for their behaviour. They may be someone you have been close to. You may once have wanted them in your life.

But if you are now bothered by their behaviour - if they're hassling you, repeatedly contacting you, or just won't leave you alone – there is no excuse.

You owe them nothing.

They have no right to be in your life. Being in your life is a privilege, and you're the only one who gets to decide who has access to it.

The Pay Transparency Bill is sitting in a biscuit tin at Parliament, waiting to be drawn. We want it out of the tin and into law.

In Aotearoa there's a gender pay gap of 5.2% for women, 12% for Māori wahine and 16% for Pacific women. International evidence shows that when employers measure the gap between women and men, Māori, Pacific and Pākehā, they make real headway in closing it.

Businesses want this, workers want this, women want this. Let's nudge this government over the line

Add your choccy bikkie to the online tin and your name will go on a petition presented to Parliament at the end of July.

As we welcome Matariki and the Māori New Year, we're taking a moment to pause✨

To remember those who have gone before us.

To celebrate the people, moments and community that sustain us today.

And to look ahead with hope for the year to come.

At Auckland Women's Centre, we marked the occasion by gathering together, sharing kai, reflecting on where we've been, and writing down our hopes for the year ahead.

Not everyone gets the same choccy bikkie and without pay gap reporting we would have no way to know.

That’s the point of STILL Minding The Gap.nz’s new campaign, A Fair Share. Right now there’s a bill that could make pay reporting mandatory sitting in a biscuit tin at Parliament, waiting to be drawn. So they’re asking people across Aotearoa to add their own biscuit to an online tin as a show of support. At the end of the month the tally gets presented to Parliament.

That's exactly the point.

Today we’re launching the A Fair Share campaign to shine a light on the gender pay gap in Aotearoa New Zealand – and we need your help! Our message is simple: everyone deserves a fair share.

The Pay Transparency Bill is in a tin at Parliament so we're asking people across New Zealand to fill our own online tin with virtual biscuits. Every biscuit is a show of support for pay transparency and fairer workplaces. At the end of the month we’ll tally up the biscuits and present to Parliament.

Join in - it’s easy!

1. Go to our website and drop a biscuit in the tin.

2. Share the campaign.
3. Put up one of our free posters at work if you can.

Together, we can show there's growing support for closing the gender pay gap.
