Taking part in a clinical trial doesn’t mean putting life on hold.

Many participants continue to work or study remotely, or spend time on hobbies, while contributing to medical research through a paid clinical trial with NZCR.

You’ll be supported every step of the way and paid up to $8,000 before tax for your participation.

See if a clinical trial could fit around your life. Clinical trials involve an investigational drug and some study assessments.

Who can participate in clinical trials?

Clinical trials are investigated in two kinds of populations: healthy participants and patients.

Healthy participants are generally healthy people, who aren’t on any long-term medications. Patients are people who have the disease or condition that the potential new treatment is for.

Healthy participants are typically needed during early phase clinical trials while patients are needed for later phase clinical trials. These trials help determine the safety, best dose, and best timing for the new medications as well as whether it works in treating the target disease.

Ever wondered how new medication or treatments are confirmed as safe and effective before they make it to you?

Before any treatment makes it to market, it must go through four carefully managed phases of clinical research, each one building on the last.

1️⃣ Phase 1 is where it all starts. These are the first tests of a new medicine in a small group of healthy participants to check if it is safe, what side effects it causes, and what dose is appropriate.
2️⃣ Phase 2 shifts the focus to patients living with the condition the treatment is designed for. This is about determining the most suitable doses to use in patients while also looking for those early signs of efficacy.
3️⃣ Phase 3 goes bigger, with often thousands of participants, at multiple sites across the globe. This is where the treatment is compared against existing options to gather the evidence needed for pharmaceutical approval.
4️⃣ Phase 4 happens once the treatment is approved and out in the world. Research continues to understand long-term safety across a much wider population.

Every phase and every participant play a key role to make new cures possible.
