Defunct medicinal cannabis company finds a buyer - RNZ News, 24 June 2026

The operations of failed medicinal cannabis company Helius Therapeutics have been snapped up by another industry player.

Medicinal cannabis grower Ora Pharm announced on Wednesday that it had bought the Helius business and its assets for a confidential sum.

Industry welcomes new H**p regulations

The New Zealand Medicinal Cannabis Council thanks the Ministry for Regulation and the Ministry of Health for their collaborative approach and the significant work undertaken to modernise New Zealand’s h**p regulatory framework. The coalition (NZHIA, AHA and NZMCC) also acknowledges the leadership shown by Hon David Seymour in progressing these regulatory changes. Read more:

Results are out: we tested 3164 drugs in 2025, and this is what we found. 12% of these drugs samples weren't what people expected (either another drug entirely, or a mix of the expected drug and other drugs). If these people hadn't checked their drugs, that's potentially hundreds of people that could have experienced drug harm or even overdoses.
