The Yoga Pantry

The Yoga Pantry The Yoga Pantry is your one-stop place for feel-good vibes with uplifting workouts, relaxation, and

People generally want to know "what style do you teach" Yoga is not a style, rather it is a lifestyle ;)

So in answer to that question, here at The Yoga Pantry, our instructors have been trained in traditional yoga asana, philosophy and lifestyle. It's a really integrated approach that allows us to customise the lessons to suit the needs of our students without being constrained to a specific "st

yle" or brand. Traditional yoga encompasses all of the postures that you find in branded "styles" of yoga asana plus all of the postures that get overlooked but offer a lot of really important benefits. We also incorporate relaxation, meditation and breathwork (pranayama) to give you a well-rounded yoga practise that enhances the benefits of the asana (postures). Our classes consist of general yoga classes, prenatal classes, yoga for relaxation and restoration, stress relief, yin and flow yoga as well as meditation and relaxation classes. We also offer yoga for disability, elderly, or just someone looking for a gentle way to stay healthy. Along with a variety of other great course and workshop options to keep you feeling healthy, energised and enjoying every moment of your life. Come into the Pantry and unleash the abundance within :)

Monday Mudra 🤲 Pala mudra - for anxiety relief

Fear and worry are natural responses to life challenges, but when they become chronic, impairing our ability to live and work, they are classified as
anxiety disorders.

Anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), phobias, panic disorder, social anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Generalized anxiety
disorder affects over six milion Americans, with women twice as likely to
be affected.

Individuals with GAD experience chronic excessive worry and
feelings of apprehension that disrupt social activities and can interfere with
work, school or family.

Physical symptoms include restlessness, insomnia irritability, muscular tension, fatigue, gastrointestinal discomfort, heart palpitations and difficulty concentrating.

Pala is a "monk's begging bowl" used in the practice of receiving alms called bhiksha.

Cultivating non-attachment is a main facet of this practice; the monks receive only that which is freely given, without expectation and with a sense of tranquility, trusting that the universe always provides for their needs.

Pala mudra instills this same sense of trust and tranquility. It slows the breath, directing awareness and energy into the abdomen, whose steady rise and fall relaxes the body while calming the mind and emotions.

The cupped shape of the hands in this gesture, together with the abdominal breathing, instills a sense of entering a sanctuary where we can rest in complete tranquility, This gesture also supports us in reconnecting with our inhnerent wholeness, which gradually decreases our level of worry and anxiety.

The calming effects of Pala mudra support the health of the reproductive
eliminatory and digestive systems.

Your back hurts. So why am I working on your feet? 🌿

Because the body is not a collection of separate parts. It is one continuous, interconnected web, and the site of your pain is almost never where the problem started.

Meet fascia. The tissue that changes everything.

Our latest Yogi Notes breaks down the myofascial lines that run through your entire body, and exactly why a tight calf can give you sciatica, rounded shoulders can cause neck pain, and working one side of your body can release the other.

There is always a method to my madness 😉😁🌱

Some of the most beautiful moments in this studio happen in our Beginner Yoga course; it's my absolute favourite class to teach, and I've been teaching it for 12 years!

Not because anyone's doing anything fancy- quite the opposite, actually. It's the quiet realisation halfway through class that you can do this, and it can be done your way, to suit your body and your needs. That your breath can slow down. That you don't have to be flexible, strong, or "sporty" to belong on a mat; you just have to show up for yourself and let the yoga transform you from within.

If you've been curious about yoga but never quite taken the leap, maybe you've told yourself you're "not bendy enough" or "too old to start"; this course was made with exactly you in mind. No experience needed. No expectations. Just a fabulous, guided introduction to yoga in a room full of people who are all beginning too, or coming back to yoga after a long break.

We start the next round on Thursday 27 August 🌿
All props provided, and a teacher who genuinely loves working with beginners.
