From their first steps to running around the playground, children’s bodies are constantly growing and changing.

Chiropractic care can help assess how your child’s spine and joints are moving, identify areas of discomfort, and support healthy movement.

At Village Chiropractic, we take a gentle, individualised approach to caring for little ones.

Headaches that keep coming back? 🤕
Tension and neck-related headaches are among the most common reasons people come to see us. If yours tend to start at the base of your skull or come with a stiff neck, a chiropractic assessment may help work out what's going on.

On Valentine’s Day at 7:20am, Adrian took part in the 22km Mid Monty Coastal Challenge, a run, walk and swim from Long Bay to Windsor Reserve.

Just six minutes into the event, at around 7:26am, Adrian took a solid blow to the left shin after swimming over a barnacle covered rock (see the photo for proof). After climbing up a two metre cliff and taking a moment to assess the damage, he decided he was good to keep going.

The first 7km of the course was mostly made up of rocks, water crossings, careful walking and trying not to slip, all while taking in some incredible coastal scenery. Adrian even spotted several small bays he never knew existed. By the 11km mark, after swimming across the rather smelly Milford Estuary, he was very grateful to be greeted with sliced blood oranges and sour cola lollies.

At around 17km the fatigue began to set in as the beaches stretched out longer and the path around the cliffs became more exposed with the dropping tide. By the time he reached 20km and hit Macky Ave, it felt a bit like climbing North Head, although thankfully it was downhill from there.

Office Update

It’s been a big couple of weeks in the office, full of connection, reflection, and celebration.

Adrian took a well-earned week off to recharge at the Mount, and while he was away, Ben stepped in to cover. It was so nice to catch up with him! We already miss having him around, but it was great to hear what he’s been up to.We also had the chance to give him a proper farewell with a special send-off. It was so heartwarming to see many of his practice members return to celebrate the impact he made during his 15 months with us. TK and Julia even rewrote “Jolene” as a tribute song for him, and Ben’s dad came along too. The evening was filled with laughter and great conversations between familiar and new faces. If you’d like a copy of the song lyrics, just let us know!

We’ve also had three chiropractic students observing in the practice recently. We really enjoy having students in the office—one of our big goals is to offer world-class chiropractic care while also giving future chiros a chance to experience the many ways of practicing and connecting with community.

And finally, we attended a mindset seminar focused on breaking the habit of negative thinking. It offered some really practical tools for shifting unhelpful thought patterns and reminded us how continuous learning—and sometimes unlearning—can shape the way we show up in practice. As always, we’re committed to making sure the adjustment begins the moment you walk through the door. Every detail in our space has been chosen with care to give you the best experience possible.

Office Update:

After six long months of waiting (and a fair bit of persistence), we’re excited to announce that our new signage is finally up! You’ll now spot a fresh chalkboard sign out on the road, offering up some light-hearted or thought-provoking musings as you cruise past on your way to Chaisso for your caffeine fix. Consider it a moment of reflection before heading across the narrow sea to the Auckland C*D. Up above, both our awning and roof signs have had a much-needed makeover. A huge thank you to all of you who gently (and not-so-gently) reminded us it was time. We heard you—and acted! The sleek new black signage can now be seen all the way from the treadmills at JustWorkout.

In other fresh news, you might notice a wardrobe upgrade around the clinic. Dr Adrian, Takako, and Julia are now sporting newly embroidered Village Chiropractic shirts. It’s our small way of keeping things professional, unified, and a little bit stylish. Feel free to tell us what you think next time you’re in!

We’ve also made a few changes to the layout of the space to make your visits even more welcoming. The bookshelf has been relocated to create a more open feel in the front room, and we’ve already had some lovely feedback: “It’s just better.” We’ve noticed more conversations, more smiles, and a stronger sense of community among practice members—and we’re all for it. Here’s to small changes that brighten the space and the experience for everyone.

Over the past three months, Dr. Ben has been working on modernizing how we present your SF-36 Questionnaire results. This important tool helps track changes in your overall quality of life throughout your care, measuring how you perceive your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Based on your responses, the questionnaire generates a score (out of 100) across eight key areas:

1.Physical Functioning
2.Role Limitations (Physical Health)
3.Role Limitations (Emotional Health)
4. Energy/Fatigue
5.Emotional Well-being
6.Social Functioning
7. Pain
8.General Health

Additionally, we’ve introduced two summary scores:

1. Physical Summary
2. Mental Summary

These are calculated from your other scores and compared to standardized data from other New Zealanders. The average score is around 50—if you’re consistently scoring lower, it might be time to focus on those areas of your health.

Look out for the updated report at your next exam!
