🦠 Meningococcal disease is a serious bacterial infection that can lead to life‑threatening illnesses such as meningitis and septicaemia (blood infection). It can affect anyone, but babies, people living in crowded homes, hostels or residential centres, and those with weakened immune systems or respiratory infections are at higher risk.

âť—The early symptoms can look like a cold or flu. Watch for symptoms that are worsening quickly. You can contact your GP or healthcare provider, call Healthline on 0800 611 116 (24/7), or call 111 in an emergency.

💉Getting vaccinated is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family. Meningococcal B vaccination is free for children under 5 and for eligible 13–25-year-olds in their first year of certain close-living situations.

🧠 Dementia affects more than 55 million people worldwide. While increasing age is the greatest risk factor, dementia is not a normal part of ageing.

💜This World Alzheimer’s Month, we’re joining the call to reduce stigma and discrimination by highlighting the importance of timely diagnosis under this year’s theme: The Earlier You Know, The More You Can Do: A Dementia Diagnosis Matters.

🎯If you or someone you care about is experiencing symptoms like memory loss or difficulty with everyday tasks, checking in with your GP can make a meaningful difference.

❄️With cold and flu circulating in this chilly weather, asthma symptoms can flare up — especially for children. Keeping your home warm, dry, and free from common triggers can really help.

👩‍⚕️If your child has asthma, make sure they’re using their preventer inhaler as prescribed, and pick up a spacer ahead of time if they need one. Small steps like these can make a big difference.

✅It’s also helpful to watch for signs such as wheezing, coughing, or any difficulty breathing. If you notice these, check in with your GP for support and a review of their asthma plan.

🎯Chronic hepatitis causes serious long‑term liver damage and is one of the leading causes of liver cancer worldwide. This World Hepatitis Day, the 2026 theme “Hepatitis: Let’s break it down” encourages us to remove the barriers that prevent people from getting the care and screening that could save their lives.

💙Viral hepatitis remains a major cause of preventable illness and death across the globe. As part of your regular health check, it’s a good idea to make sure your liver health is up to date.

💙 Men’s Health Week is a good reminder of the habits and routines you should be doing that help men stay well throughout the year. Building simple health routines can make life more enjoyable, and it just takes a few small steps to get started.

💬 The Men’s Health Survey is a helpful way to get a quick sense of where your health routines are at, but it’s not a replacement for a doctor’s visit.

🩺 Take the survey here:

💜 Older people in our communities deserve safety, dignity, and respect, yet many experience harm that’s often hidden.

Elder abuse can look like being dismissed, isolated, manipulated, taken advantage of, or financially exploited. It can happen whether someone lives alone or with others, and it’s often caused by the very people they trust.

💛 It frequently goes unreported because of shame, fear, or stigma. If something doesn’t feel right, or if you notice unusual behaviour, taking that first step can make a real difference.

đź”— Let's take a minute to learn more about elder abuse and how to seek help here this World Elder Abuse Awareness Day:
