💚 This June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, and we’re encouraging New Zealanders to get to the bottom of it. Know the symptoms of bowel cancer, start conversations that could save lives, and take action early. Statistics shows bowel cancer is curable in over 90% of cases when it’s found early, so now is the right time to check in with yourself.

💬 If something doesn’t feel right, it’s always best to get checked. A quick 2‑minute online symptom checker can help you understand what to look out for and prepare you for your doctor’s appointment.

🩺 The National Bowel Screening Programme is also available for eligible men and women aged 58 to 74, offering free screening to help catch bowel cancer early.

🎊Today, we’re celebrating International Nurses Day and taking a moment to acknowledge the incredible work of our practice nurse.

🎯This year’s theme, "Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives", reminds us how vital nurses are to strong, person‑centred primary care. When nurses are supported and empowered, the entire community benefits.

🌡️As the days get colder and more bugs start circulating, it's good to know the common symptoms of a cold, the flu, or COVID‑19. Because these illnesses all affect your airways, it’s always a good idea to rule out COVID‑19 first with a quick RAT test.

💙If your symptoms linger for more than two weeks or if your flu symptoms become severe, it’s best to check in with your doctor for support.

👉You can learn more about symptoms and how to care for yourself at home here:

✅Flu season is here, and now is the perfect time to protect yourself and your family. This year’s flu vaccine is available, and getting immunised is one of the simplest ways to reduce your risk of becoming seriously unwell.

The flu vaccine is free for those most at risk. It is funded for everyone aged 65 and over, and also for people under 65 who may be more vulnerable — including those with long‑term health conditions, reduced immune function, pregnancy, specific mental health or addiction needs, and children aged 4 and under who have been hospitalised for respiratory illness or have a history of significant respiratory illness.

đź“… Book your flu vaccine today by calling reception on 09 378 7916.

🌍 This year’s World Health Day theme, “Together for health. Stand with science,” is a reminder that good health is shaped by equity, prevention, mental wellbeing, and the everyday choices that help reduce our risk of chronic disease.

🌿 It’s a moment to reflect on the essentials that support healthier communities — from nutritious food, clean water, and sanitation to vaccines, medicines, infection control, and mental health care.

✨ Science powers better health outcomes, and staying informed helps us all make choices that support long‑term wellbeing.
