Ranfurly Village recently welcomed the renowned Spizzwinks(?) as part of their New Zealand tour, hosting the group during a special wine and cheese afternoon enjoyed by residents. The performance created a warm and vibrant atmosphere, with residents describing the afternoon as entertaining, uplifting, and a truly memorable occasion.

Established in 1914, The Spizzwinks(?) are one of Yale’s premier a ca****la ensembles, celebrated internationally for their musical talent, touring history, and performance excellence. Their distinctive name also comes with a distinctive story.

In the group’s early years, when their name appeared in a Yale publication, an editor questioned whether it had been spelled correctly and added a question mark. Rather than removing it, the group embraced the ambiguity — and the famous “(?)” has remained part of their identity ever since.

Ranfurly Village marked ANZAC Day with a service of remembrance, reflecting the village’s long history as a place of care for veterans and its ongoing connection with the Ranfurly Veterans’ Trust. It remains a particularly meaningful day for the Ranfurly community. With heartfelt tributes, shared memories, and reflection, we paid our respects to those who served and continue to serve. Lest we forget.

Today, we pause to remember and honour those who served and sacrificed for our country. On ANZAC Day, we reflect on the courage and resilience that continue to shape who we are today.

At Ranfurly Village, we take a moment to come together in remembrance — to acknowledge the past, honour the present, and share in a quiet gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy.

Lest we forget.

The traditional notion of luxury – once purely a monument to excess and consumption – is being dismantled and rebuilt. A new philosophy is taking hold, one that finds opulence not in the acquisition of more, but in the discernment of enough.
