Don't ignore the early signs of bowel cancer.

Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in New Zealand, but early detection can make a significant difference.

Watch out for symptoms such as:
✅ Persistent changes in bowel habits
✅ Blood in your poo or from your bottom
✅ Severe abdominal pain
✅ Unexplained weight loss
✅ Ongoing tiredness despite adequate rest

If you notice any of these symptoms, don't delay. Talk to your healthcare provider and get checked. Early detection saves lives💚

1⃣Breast Cancer
Quick question. Do you know your breasts? 🍒 Regularly check your breasts to know what's normal to you. According to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, half of all breast cancers are found because someone noticed a change in their breast and showed their doctor. You have better odds with early detection.
2⃣Bowel Cancer
You're never too young to be diagnosed with bowel cancer. Did you know that 1 in 10 New Zealanders diagnosed with bowel cancer are under 50? Your body can give early warning signs of bowel cancer such as changes in bowel habits, ongoing tummy discomfort or unexplained bleeding. These symptoms should never be ignored🚩
3⃣Melanoma
Know the skin you're in so you know when something abnormal pops up. If found and treat early, melanoma is almost always curable. Check your skin regularly for any changes - size, shape or color of an existing spot, or the appearance of a new spot.‍ Talk to your GP if you find anything of concern 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

🌼Supporting Daffodil Day🌼

This August, we're proud to be supporting Daffodil Day and helping raise funds for the Cancer Society's vital work.
From now until Daffodil Day, we'll be selling Daffodil Day badges at both of our clinics throughout August. Every badge purchased helps support people affected by cancer, funds life-saving research, and provides essential support services for patients and their families.

On 28th August, our team will also be wearing something yellow 💛 to show our support and help raise awareness. We invite our patients and community to join in by wearing a splash of yellow too!
Thank you for helping us support this important cause. Together, we can make a meaningful difference for those impacted by cancer.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Generous Community
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supported our ‘Medplus Give a Blanket Appeal.” We have been absolutely blown away by the incredible generosity and kindness shown by our patients and the wider community.
Thanks to your thoughtful donations, we have collected a wonderful number of blankets, warm clothing and accessories that will provide warmth, comfort, and care to those who need it most during the colder months. Every blanket donated is a reminder of the compassion that exists within our community.
Your support has exceeded our expectations, and we are truly grateful for every contribution, big or small. Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of people facing hardship this winter.
From all of us, thank you for your generosity, your kindness, and for helping us spread a little extra warmth where it's needed most. We are proud to be part of such a caring community. Medplus

Due for your cervical screening? As part of Women’s Health Week, all Tend clinics are offering FREE cervical screening with our practice nurse.
