Our young cooks arrived feeling a little shy, but once they put on their aprons, received their recipe books and proudly wrote their names inside, the excitement began to build. And when they discovered their first culinary journey was to Greece, the smiles grew even wider! ๐ฌ๐ท
We began in the garden, harvesting lemons, mint, spinach and edible flowers. G then introduced kitchen rules, the importance of having a plan before beginning, and that invaluable habit - cleaning as you go.
From grating, skewering and mixing granola to grilling, setting the table and stuffing pitas with their own choice of fillings, they embraced every part of the experience. They were hesitant about some unfamiliar flavours, but with a little encouragement, they tasted - and most enjoyed everything. The fact that they returned for seconds said it all!
We also got to celebrate Jackโs birthday with cake and a wonderfully noisy birthday song. ๐
Four young cooks, one delicious Greek feast and the beginning of something very special.
Looking forward to the next one in 2 weeks...............
