Level 1 2026 Scholarship Spotlight!

"Receiving the Bradcliff Scholarship is a profound honour and a transformative milestone in my journey as a paediatrics lecturer, physiotherapist, and researcher. It empowers me to bring cutting-edge, evidence-informed respiratory care to the paediatric patients who need it most. Working in Pretoria at Steve Biko Academic Hospital and local special schools, my heart is in serving vulnerable children navigating complex neurological, neuromuscular, and cardiopulmonary conditions such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy. In our local context, delivering specialised, high-impact, and cost-effective care directly improves health-related quality of life for children while supporting their families. I am thrilled to join the global Bradcliff community to elevate paediatric respiratory outcomes in South Africa and beyond!"
- Prof. Anri Human, South Africa

Scholarship Spotlight!

"I am so excited to receive this scholarship to improve the care I provide to veterans. I am a speech-language pathologist in Ann Arbor Michigan, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. I evaluate and treat patients with upper airway disorders (voice, chronic cough, muscle tension dysphonia, etc). I am fascinated by the relationship between breathing disorders and voice disorders and look forward to implementing what I learn in this course." - Megan Mary O'Brien, United States

Scholarship Spotlight! Congratulations, Juan.

"I thank God for allowing me to be considered and chosen to take the BradCliff Method Level 1 course. This opportunity makes me the first Venezuelan to be certified in this respiratory method, which has been successfully applied for so many years to provide essential tools to healthcare professionals who want the best for their patients.

I will be applying this method in my workplaces, including the Dr. Domingo Luciani Hospital and during home visits for patients. I specialize in treating individuals with conditions such as cancer, pneumonia, COPD, stroke (CVD), cardiovascular diseases, post-operative recovery, and athletes.

Having this opportunity is truly unparalleled due to the immense professional growth I will achieve. Thank you very much." - Juan Valera, Venezuela

2026 Level 1 Scholarship Spotlight ✨
"I am the Director and Principal Physiotherapist at Long Covid Physio, a telehealth physiotherapy practice based on the Gold Coast, Australia, providing services across Australia and New Zealand. I work with individuals living with Long COVID, post-viral fatigue, post-exertional malaise (PEM), POTS, hypermobility spectrum disorders, hEDS, and associated comorbidities. Many of which are complex and often invisible conditions. Breathing pattern disorder is prevalent within this population and plays a role in symptom burden and functional limitation. Receiving the BradCliff Breathing Scholarship will allow me to further develop specialised skills to better assess and manage these patients, ultimately improving clinical outcomes within an underserved and geographically dispersed cohort. I am truly honoured to have been selected from a large international applicant pool and look forward to integrating this knowledge into my clinical practice and broader patient education initiatives." - Dione Knight

2026 Level 1 Scholarship Spotlight ✨
"I am deeply honoured and grateful to have been awarded a BradCliff Scholarship for the Level 1 course. This opportunity means a great deal to me, as it will allow me to further develop my knowledge and skills in breathing assessment and retraining, and to bring this learning back to my clinical practice, research, and education in Japan.

As a clinician, visiting researcher at a university, and an employee at an IT company, I am a physiotherapist working mainly in the Greater Tokyo area. I support people with musculoskeletal disorders, athletes, and employees through workplace health and wellbeing programs. In my experience, many people do not present primarily with respiratory disease, yet breathing dysfunction is often overlooked and may be related to pain, movement limitations, stress, and overall wellbeing.

Through this course, I hope to gain a more evidence-based and practical approach to breathing care, so that I can better support my patients, athletes, and employees, and also share this knowledge with other physiotherapists in Japan." - Koji Nakamaru

2026 Level 1 Scholarship Spotlight ✨
"I’m grateful to have been awarded a scholarship for the BradCliff Level 1 Course. This will allow me to further develop my understanding of breathing mechanics and breathing retraining to better support the clients I work with. My caseload includes dancers, singers, and actors, many of whom already have a strong awareness of their breathing, as well as professional voice users and people with voice disorders. I’m excited to apply what I learn across these populations and to discover even more ways this training can enhance the care I provide." - Elissa (Physiotherapist) - Sydney, Australia

Looking Ahead

As I return home, I am more convinced than ever that breathing deserves greater recognition in healthcare.

My hope is that one day every clinician will routinely ask:
"How is this person breathing?"

Just as naturally as we measure blood pressure, heart rate and temperature.

Because better breathing starts with better assessment.

'The Why Before the How.'

The UK visit left me inspired. I met:

Outstanding clinicians.
Excellent educators.
Innovative technologies and products.
Specialists from many different disciplines.

Yet one observation stood out above all else:

There is still no common clinical framework that brings these strengths together.

That is where I believe BradCliff can contribute. BradCliff is not another breathing technique.

It is an integrated clinical framework for assessing, understanding and optimising breathing across the whole individual, linking physiology, biomechanics, neuroscience and clinical reasoning regardless of discipline or diagnosis.
