📢 FREE flu vaccines now available for tamariki aged 6 months to under 5 years!

We're seeing high numbers of young children unwell with the flu at the moment, and it's spreading quickly through daycares and kindys.

The good news: as of 1 September, the flu vaccine is now FREE for all children aged 6 months to under 5 years. 🎉

Flu can make little ones very sick, and this is a simple, effective way to protect them through the rest of the season.

A few things worth knowing:
✅ It's free for this age group, no cost to you
✅ Children under 4 having the flu vaccine for the first time need 2 doses, given at least 4 weeks apart
✅ We can often give it alongside other scheduled childhood immunisations

A note regarding our practice software changes

We’re pleased to share that Dr Michael Howlett one of the new partners at Waiake Medical will be available in 2026. Michael has a special interest in skin and minor procedures, mental health, ADHD, weight loss, and musculoskeletal issues. He also holds a degree in physiotherapy alongside his medical degree, which brings valuable additional expertise to his practice.

Dr Michael Howlett will now be available:
Monday afternoons
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday mornings

Our wider clinical team availability is as follows:
- Dr Scarlett Pulham: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday

- Dr Andrew Murley: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning

In addition, one of our wonderful nursing team — Michelle, Jayne, or Emily — will be available every day to support your care.
