Influenza is circulating in our community
Like many families, workplaces, and healthcare providers across our community, we are currently experiencing higher-than-usual levels of influenza illness.
Unfortunately, this has also affected some of our staff. To ensure we can continue providing safe, high-quality care, some of our General Practice Nursing clinics may need to be rescheduled this week. If your appointment is affected, our team will contact you as soon as possible. If you do not hear from us, please attend your appointment as planned.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience, kindness, and understanding as we support both our patients and our staff through this busy flu season.
If you or someone in your whānau has influenza symptoms:
✔️ Stay home, rest, and drink plenty of fluids
✔️ Use paracetamol if needed to help manage symptoms
✔️ Monitor your symptoms and seek medical advice if you are concerned or feeling worse
✔️ In an emergency, always call 111
😷 Help protect others by wearing a mask if you are unwell or have cold or flu symptoms when visiting our clinic. Masks are available free of charge at all building entrances.
Not sure whether you need to see a doctor?
These resources can help:
📱 Healthify: https://healthify.nz
Reliable, easy-to-understand health information to help you assess symptoms and decide on your next steps.
☎️ Healthline: 0800 611 116
Free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Registered nurses can provide advice and help determine whether further care is needed.
For most people, influenza can be managed at home with rest, hydration, and symptom monitoring. However, if something doesn't feel right, please seek medical advice.
If you need to be seen by a doctor, you may be asked to complete a multi-test before arriving and report your result. These tests can detect Influenza A, Influenza B, RSV, and COVID-19 and are available for purchase from most pharmacies at a small cost.
💙 Acting early helps protect you, your whānau, and our wider community. Thank you for doing your part to help reduce the spread of illness and support those who are most vulnerable. See less
