Accessing healthcare doesn’t always mean waiting to see a doctor 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

Did you know that pharmacists are now able to assess and treat a range of common conditions? This can be a quick and convenient option when you need care sooner.

Pharmacists can help with:
• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
• Conjunctivitis (pink eye) and other eye infections
• Cold sores
• Hay fever / allergic rhinitis. Symptom relief for the common cold.
• Mild skin conditions such as itching, rashes, and inflamed fungal infections
• Fungal infections of the toe or fingernails
• Thrush (oral and vaginal)
• Mouth ulcers
• Warts
• Haemorrhoids
• Nausea associated with migraine
• Abdominal including period cramps

They are highly trained healthcare professionals who can provide treatment, advice, and in some cases supply medication without the need for a GP appointment.

This is a great option for straightforward conditions and helps free up GP appointments for more complex or urgent medical needs.

As always, if your symptoms are more severe, ongoing, or you’re unsure, please call and speak to our nurses.

We understand that many of our patients are feeling frustrated with the current wait times for GP appointments, and we want to be open about why this is happening.

There is currently a nationwide shortage of doctors across New Zealand. This is affecting medical centres everywhere and means routine (non-urgent) appointments may take longer than usual to access. While this is challenging for everyone, please be assured that we are doing everything we can to care for our community with the resources we have.

To ensure those who need care most urgently are seen promptly, we keep same-day appointments available for urgent issues. These are triaged by our nursing team, who assess each situation carefully so that patients with the most acute needs are prioritised.

We truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Our team is working hard every day to provide safe, high-quality care to all our patients.

Thank you for your continued support.

It’s important to seek advice directly from qualified medical professionals, such as your doctor or pharmacist when considering options like moving to a 12‑month prescription. Every person’s health needs are different, and what works for a friend, neighbour, or something mentioned in the news may not be suitable or safe for you. Only trained clinicians can assess your individual situation and provide the right guidance.

Kia ora everyone,

We would like to advise that due to staff shortages, we are currently operating at full capacity and are unable to accommodate any additional appointments for the next few days.

We understand this may be frustrating, and we truly appreciate your patience.

Our team is doing their very best to help wherever possible. If you are feeling unwell, you can call Healthline on 0800 611 116 for free, reliable medical advice.

If you require urgent medical attention, please phone 111 immediately. Please remember we are not an urgent care facility or a walk-in clinic.

Thank you for your kindness, understanding, and support during this busy time.
