Burnout doesn't always start with doing too much. Sometimes it starts with saying "yes" when you meant "no."
Stress builds quietly, taking on more than you can carry, letting other people's urgency override your own priorities, staying silent instead of speaking up. Over time, your nervous system never gets the chance to settle.
Boundaries are one of the most effective, and most overlooked, tools for managing that stress. Not walls. Not guilt trips. Just clear, calm limits around your time, energy and emotional space.
A simple way to start: use the BID framework next time you need to speak up
Behaviour — describe the situation factually
Impact — name how it's affecting you
Discuss — state your boundary clearly
Healthy boundaries aren't about keeping people out. They're about showing people how to respect you and how you respect yourself.
This is exactly the kind of work we do on our Resilience retreats, real tools for stress, burnout, and communication that actually change how your week feels.
