I didn’t lose myself all at once.

It happened in small trades.

A yes when I wanted to say no.

Silence when I wanted to speak.

Shrinking so someone else could stay comfortable.

Ignoring what I felt because keeping the peace seemed more important.

Changing pieces of myself just to be loved, chosen, accepted, or left alone.

None of those moments felt big enough to call a loss.

But eventually I looked around and realized I had been giving myself away one piece at a time.

Healing has looked a lot like reversing those trades.

Taking back my voice.

Taking back my boundaries.

Taking back the parts of me I once decided were too much.

And maybe that is what returning to yourself really is.

Not finding some person you lost long ago.

Just finally deciding:

I am no longer willing to trade pieces of myself for belonging.

Never let yourself shrink just to fit in with the crowd.
Let your authentic self be seen heard and noticed!
Be yourself no matter what and always remember you don’t owe anyone an explanation for anything you do 🫂
