We're experiencing high demand as winter illnesses affect our community. This may mean longer wait times while we prioritise patients who are most unwell and vulnerable.

If you need medical advice or treatment for a non-emergency condition, Health NZ's Online GP Care service may be a good option. Online clinicians can assess and manage many acute illnesses and injuries, often with same day appointments available.

You can view real-time appointment availability and wait from the comfort of your own home.

We're open 24/7 and happy to see you. This is simply another option that may suit some patients when we're particularly busy and wait times are longer than usual.

Our wait time dashboard is designed to help you know what to expect before you arrive.

All patients are triaged on arrival and seen based on the urgency of their condition, so someone who arrived after you may be treated first.

Not sure what 24 Hour Surgery can help with?

We’re here for urgent illnesses and injuries when your usual GP is unavailable. Our focus is on problems that need timely assessment and treatment, but are not emergencies.

Because we are an urgent care service, there are some services we are unable to provide, including long term prescriptions, ADHD assessments, travel vaccinations, routine medical exams, and certain procedures.

A Special Visit from Halswell Community Group

During our busy winter period, we had a wonderful surprise visit from children and parents from Halswell Community Group. They brought poems, handmade cards, drawings, and treats for our team.

Reading their thoughtful messages and seeing their creative artwork brought smiles to everyone's faces. It was exactly the kind of boost our team needed during this hectic time.

At 24 Hour Surgery, we are here to provide Urgent Care when it's needed. Because of this, we see the sickest people first, however if you have a serious emergency like bad chest pain, trouble breathing, heavy bleeding, sudden loss of consciousness, or stroke symptoms, call 111 or go straight to the hospital emergency department.

For urgent problems (depending on how bad they are, this may include bad infections, worsening asthma, broken bones, cuts needing stitches, or children getting quickly worse), our team is here to help. These patients will be seen as soon as possible.

Other options are available to support you with less urgent concerns (minor coughs, mild rashes, sore throats, etc.). Check out yourbestcare.co.nz as this site contains great information about other options available to you.

We’ve had a few questions about why our posts appear and disappear — great observation!

We only post when demand is high. If you’re seeing a post, it means we’re currently experiencing increased activity and want to keep you informed. You won’t see a post every day, and we typically don’t post in the mornings unless things are particularly busy.

We do this because we’re often asked about wait times, and it’s important to us to keep you updated. Once things settle and we’re back to business as usual, the post is removed. No post generally means we are at normal operating levels.

Here are a few things you can do to prepare ahead and stay healthy:
