Wow – you really showed up this year! Thank you to the amazing visitors who packed out and crowded around the Hauora Taiwhenua Health and Wellbeing Hub every single day across the four-day event. There was a real buzz across the site, and you could truly feel the confidence and energy. But amid that positive economic shift, the hub reminded us of an important reality: people still get sick, and finding the right care can still be tough to navigate.

What struck us most this year was a powerful shift in attitude. Having been here for a decade, we remember when people—especially men—would hesitantly walk right past. This year? You walked straight in, asked questions and opened up. We saw a massive step-change in the conversations around mental health, with more people comfortable saying they're stressed or need a hand. It’s not perfect, but it’s a deeply meaningful shift.

Whether you stopped by to get a health check, walked away with the right advice, or found the support you needed, we hope you found real value in connecting with us.

Thank you for showing up for your health, for each other, and for making this year our most impactful yet.

We would like to extend a massive thank you to our incredible exhibitors for bringing their absolute best, and the powerhouse event team at Fieldays for working behind the scenes to make everything run like clockwork.

We also send a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful MC Sally Lane who is officially retiring from Fieldays duties. You have been the voice, the energy and the heartbeat of our stage, bringing our community together and keeping us all moving. Fieldays won't quite be the same without you on the mic!

We’re so proud to support this community. See you in 2027!

"BURNOUT. That's the state of rural health in one word."

Rural communities deserve better - and yesterday, politicians were put on the spot to say exactly what they'd do about it.

Watch Hauora Taiwhenua's rural health political panel, where Grant Davidson pressed representatives from National, Labour, Greens, and the Opportunity Party on workforce, equity, funding, and the hard yes/no questions they couldn't dodge.

Some answered. Some squirmed. All of it matters for rural New Zealand.

Today, we marked a milestone in Hāwera - caring for 2,000 patients on board our Mobile Surgical Unit.

With June marking Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, today’s focus on endoscopy services is especially important. These procedures play a vital role in the early detection and monitoring of gastrointestinal conditions, supporting better health outcomes through timely care.

For some, this care is deeply personal. Patient Cindy Lewis is currently undergoing regular five-year bowel screening after losing her father to bowel cancer at just 50 - a reminder of the important role early detection plays in improving outcomes.

We’re committed to working alongside local health providers to strengthen access to essential services and keep patients connected to healthcare within their own communities.

2,000 fewer journeys. 2,000 patients cared for closer to home.

A big milestone today in Hāwera on the Mobile Surgical Unit.

“Reaching 2,000 patients in Hāwera represents more than just a number - it reflects thousands of appointments that didn’t require long travel, time away from home, or extended waits. That makes a meaningful difference for people and their whānau," says Mark Eager, Chief Executive, Mobile Health.

Thanks to our incredible team, the onsite team at Hāwera Hospital, and the local community, who make this possible.

Last month, Sarah Clarke, Rural Hospital Specialist and Te Whatu Ora National Clinical Director, spent four weeks travelling on board the Mobile Surgical Unit with our clinical team, gaining first-hand insight into how mobile surgery supports rural communities.

"This was not just a mobile operating theatre, but a finely tuned system that relies on trust, adaptability, and enormous goodwill." - Sarah Clarke.
