Spikenard EO reduced skin hyperpigmentation in a cell-based model that mimics increased skin pigmentation due to psychological or physiological stress, such as: stress-exacerbated melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, stress-related worsening of acne marks or uneven skin tone, and neurogenic or neuroendocrine skin disorders. The EO did so by reducing melanin content and inhibiting tyrosinase, and downregulating proteins that produce melanin. This suggests that spikenard EO may be helpful in promoting an even skin tone.

Tips:

🌿 🪻Lavender Lemonade🍋🪻🫶🍹

Serves: 1–2 large glasses (scale up for jugs)

Ingredients

Juice of 2 lemons (about ½ cup fresh juice)

1–2 drops doTERRA Lavender essential oil
(start with one drop — it’s potent!)

1–2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
(adjust for sweetness)

2 cups chilled filtered or sparkling water

Optional: a sprig of fresh lavender or mint, ice cubes, lemon slices

Jug 🏺
1 1/4 cups fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup local honey
1/2 cup water for sweet syrup
1 drop lavender 2 drops lemon doTERRA essential oil
6 cups water, still or sparkling.

Method 🍯 🪻🍋🌿💧

Water and sweetener to a saucepan over gentle heat. Stir to combine.

Add essential oils to syrup once combined

Add lemon juice to syrup mixture

Stir well until the honey is fully dissolved.

Top with chilled water or sparkling water.

Add ice and garnish with lemon slices + lavender sprig for a beautiful finish
