Taipei check. Unbelievable but I got sick as hell again. Last time I was here - same story. My eyes are hardly open. Tired as we landed morning but for me is middle of night as I flied from different time zone. I slipped a million times in town on wet floor. Even earthquake happened.
I checked a town bit, slept in park on bench, had soup to warm me up and treated myself with bear cake. 😅
Let’s move to another continent and after finally fly home.

Here and there I still train 😅, but I’m always mega tired. 🤷‍♀️ I’ve managed about 15 workouts since coming back home. (about 6 weeks) The rest of the time I was traveling, hiking, or spending time with family without gym access.

Honestly, I can’t wait to get back to NZ and dive headfirst into my work routine again.

I realized that when I’m in NZ, I miss having my friends and family close, someone who is there for you on s**t days. But when I’m back in Slovakia, I miss going full speed, locking into my routine, crushing my goals, and having 100% focus, my place, my habits, that positive mindset and environment.

It would be amazing if these two worlds could merge, but that’s just not how reality works. We can’t have everything at once.

True life balance is hard to reach, if it even exists at all. 🤷‍♀️
So many people spend forever chasing it, but maybe we’re just hunting an illusion we created in our heads.
What if it’s all just a mindset? What u reckon?

Checking Považská Bystrica Castle, (my hometown) built in the 13th century. Now ruins as Castle was damaged by fire.

Some of the castles and chateaux in Slovakia are preserved, others are ruins, but they all have their charm.

I can see this castle from my apartment window. I remember when we used to go here as kids and we climbed steeply up to the castle, now is here nice walk, there was a side wall where I sat in the window and looked at city and my flat. Today this wall is not there, but the castle is under reconstruction and a lot of work is being done to preserve it.

And there is also a small miniature of what the castle looked like before the destruction.

Below the castle are two chateaux, one in use and the other in ruins. These chateaux, were built by the Balas family as their residence when the castle was destroyed by fire.

Back in the High Tatras, which are our highest mountains in the country. 🏔️

We hiked Baranec, and from the peak, I could see Baníkov the cycle hike/climb I did just 5 days ago.

I could also see Kriváň, one of the most epic peaks in Slovakia, which I climbed with these folks a year ago when I was back home. Glad I could catch up again with them.

Done with the high mountains in my country Slovakia just small hikes from now on, as I’m heading back to New Zealand soon! ☺️

All I can say about yesterday. Chill, water, and two castles passing on way. Rest between hikes. ⛰️

Finally hit our mountains. Slept in hut, eat traditional amazing food there, pick blueberries and raspberries, hiked & climbed circuit on the peaks and happily returned back. ⛰️

These mountains are called the High Tatras, our Slovak national park. They are home to the highest peaks in the country. At the same time, these mountains are the border between Poland and Slovakia, so you can climb from Slovakia to Poland.

These mountains together with our castles are the most beautiful “must see” parts of our country I believe so. ☺️

Honestly, I can’t wait to be back in my routine.
Since I’m traveling and visiting family which is the main reason I came back to Europe I don’t train as much. I literally trained about 12 times last month. I also didn’t get as much movement in as I was expecting because it was 38 degrees here, so instead of hiking, I stayed in the water.

It’s the same with food it’s not 100%. Some days I probably don’t even hit my protein targets, and some days I’m over my calories. I don’t track anything. I expected to eat way more traditional food, but honestly, I don’t even feel like eating cooked meals in this hot weather, so I don’t even miss it.
Is this a failure along the way? Being off track and training way less? No, it’s not. Because this is just a short period of time where I prefer prioritizing family and friends, as that’s the main reason I came back home. And once I’m back, I’m going right back to the routine I’ve been doing for years.

So here’s a reminder if you’re sick, traveling, life is hard, or whatever happens and you find yourself out of your routine maybe even for longer it doesn’t matter that much. What matters is what you do the rest of the year, or for the rest of your life. So don’t panic about a couple of off days!

Sometimes progress means take a break.
