Commitment to the job is a little different at Socially Speaking 🤣. Sometimes it means getting right in there - hydro slide and all! Our outings are more about just having fun. They’re opportunities to build social connections, try new experiences, navigate the unexpected and best of all- share a laugh

Wellness Habit # 3 Keeping mentally active. Keeping your brain active doesn’t have to look like studying!
According to Dr Ezekiel Emanuel staying mentally active is one of six habits that can make a real difference to our health and wellbeing.
Because keeping our brains active isn’t just about learning new things. It’s about being curious, trying, adapting, connecting and enjoying the challenge. And sometimes…. The reward is an Oreo šŸŖ.

According to Dr. Ezekiel Emanue (Bioethicist, health policy expert, oncologist, professor, writer, cyclist and chocolatier) there are six key habits that can make a real difference to our health and wellbeing.

Over the next few weeks, we'll explore each one—and share how our Socially Speaking community puts them into practice.

Wellness Habit #2: Connect with people who lift you up.

Connection doesn't have to be complicated.

Meaningful connection doesn't always come through conversations. Sometimes it's as simple as sitting around a table, shuffling a deck of cards and sharing a few laughs over a game of 5 Crowns.
Find the people who get you.

Looking for a place to positively connect with others? We'd love to help.

Success looks different for everyone. For some, it's moving on with greater confidence and independence. For others, it's finding a supportive group where they feel understood, accepted, and connected. We're proud to be part of every journey at Socially Speaking.

Wellness Habit #1: Move in a way you enjoy.
First up... movement.

Not because you have to exercise, but because finding a way to move that you genuinely enjoy makes it much more likely you'll keep doing it.

Movement doesn't have to mean going to the gym.

It can be a game of pickleball, a walk, a dance class—anything you'll keep coming back to.

For some of our group members, pickleball ticks all the boxes. Thanks so much to Pickleball Canterbury for supporting our young people - it's so handy they are right next door to us.

Everyone needs somewhere they belong.

A place to laugh.

We thought it was time you found out more about Justine and her role at Socially Speaking.

Justine is one of our Occupational Therapists, and over the next little while we'll be sharing more about what occupational therapy is, what she does, and how it can make real a difference to the children and young people we work with.

Justine's world tour karaoke.....

As part of our group programme, our social connect groups plan and organise their own social outings—and this time it was game on!

Bowling, mini golf and the arcade made for a great chance for laughs, friendly competition and catching up.

As for karaoke... let's just say Justine's world tour has been postponed.
